The elder's words accurately capture the JW literal-minded mentality - a mentality endemic in the organization that creates many if not most, of the interpersonal problems in congregstions in the first place.
The dilemma for those who believe it is "still" the truth despite that mentality is between being authentic, decent human beings and behaving like unthinking "slaves" to earn the elders' approval.
Thank goodness TTATT rescues people from that dilemma - although I get that some might feel the need to return for family reasons.
