Elders were told, a few years ago that It is better to be merciful and err in the way of giving the benefit of the doubt than to disfellowship a person that was truly repentant, even though you had some reservations. Then, a sudden shift from the Society was given. If you weren't 100% sure that the person was truly sorry, and if you had some reservations, just disfellowship the person! And the reasoning was that even if the elders were wrong, it would show whether the wrongdoer was truly repentant or not. I wonder how many people got disfellowshipped because the faithful slave got a new whim.
If You're Not Sure, It's Better To Disfellowship!!

So before they were merciful and now they are merciless. So does this suprise us in view of all the crap happening in the org. They don't want people who will question them, they want yesbots. And if your not willing to be a yesbot your out. Don't rock the boat. That is their new rule. They don't care so much about repentance if your a Sh..Der. they want you out. They will find a way to see you are evicted.

yeh,God's spirit is there...
If all this Df stuff and judging crap was from God,I think God would make sure the elders knew what to do.

Though I don't doubt it, when I was an elder I saw no shift in emphasis toward dfing. That was a couple years back, so I may not be up on the latest. But perhaps you can show why you say the above. Perhaps it's unwritten, and it is something that is being said at meetings with the CO or something. Whatever the case, elaboration would be appreciated. Thanks.

This info was presented on at least 2 occasions. Once from Co's meeting with elders and another time it was co-do meeting after a circuit assembly. The Society was trying to say that the elders were misinterperting what the Wt. said about the difference between a person that was weak and wicked.

WT. 1-1 1995, pages 27-31 was the basis for the new "adjustment".

Min, thanks for the response. I must have been snoozing during those meetings.
Like I said, I don't doubt it at all - it would be par for the course.

Kill 'em all and let god sort 'em out! Same attitude. Why not just go ahead and DF ALL the little JWs, then you would see which ones came crawling back. Plus, certainly they all have done something bad in the past few years and deserve to be DF'ed ...

Unless they're an elder or in the right clique, then mercy needs to be applied, don't you know!I remember the talks on love, and they all said "don't put your fellow Witnesses under a microscope, because if you look hard enough you can find faults in anyone".
I guess the elders can pick and choose whom they put under their "microscope". The stuff about love only applies to non-elders.

this was the case, it is not the official position, but one that the society allows, knowing full well like they do on many issues that they have CO and DO who make statements and are never cked-
i recall the CO Ken Karres who told us and the way he said it was one of those WINK WINK type ways
it is so sad that such men (Cheese Cracker Men) have such free rein over folks lives
he told us WHY IS THERE A NEED TO ERR TO START WITH if you do it by the wt rules there is no need to err,
so what that did was rule out completely any elder in a judical meeting saying:
"Well bro since it is not clear cut, is it not better to err on the side of mercy"
the phrase above was now not allowed as it were and we have seen how the wt and it's reps will often time plant the seed and just let it grow -
and then fall back on the "we didn't say that" well no they didn't say this or that instead they merely set the table up for it
