An ex-JW friend of mine once agreed with me that the letters in the "questions from readers" section in the WT/Awake! were all made up by the WBTS.
Does anybody have any evidence either way?
Has anybody had their "question" published?

Nonsense. They are all legitimate questions from readers.
After all, the boys in writing are readers, too...
I think 40 to 50 years ago, they were real questions, but I think since the 70's they have become "Questions FOR the Readers" and are used as a platform to discuss topics too sensitive to put in a study article or even in the Kingdom Manifesto.
The WTS does receive questions but they are handled as has been described here, the writer may get an answer, but assuredly the body of elders in their congregation gets a letter and a directive to contact the original letter writer.
You would get a much better and honest answer posting your question here on JWD.

Must be made up. I just selected an Awake! completely at random (March 8 2002). There are seven letters - two from Italy, one each from Germany, Japan, India, Czech Republic and the USA. Only ONE from the USA! As everybody knows, the majority of JWs are in the States, but reading where these letters (allegedly) came from implies a global JW distribution!
And another thing...ALL the letters have the same "style" and, dare I say it, intellect...You know, as if all of the bullshit has come from the same person...

I had heard that MANY were made up by "Freddie" himself. Questions are of coarse CHERRY PICKED to fit the occation at the time when publishers send them in. If the society has no backing for a question...it's not published of coarse. ( am I spelling coarse right?)
( am I spelling coarse right?)
Gumby, sorry. No

Think again. There are about 1 million active JW's in the US. Most of them don't even read the mags. There are about 6 million active JW's worldwide. You do the math. The "From Our Readers" section in the Asleep! is probably real. But I'd bet the QFR is made up.
I've always felt that these "questions" have a made-up feel to them. Also, I'd like to see how many real questions never make it to print. I'm sure they get a lot of real stuff that they don't have the courage to touch with the proverbial ten-foot pole.
Another guess is that the questions may be culled from a number of queries received on a similar topic.
: it's not published of coarse. ( am I spelling coarse right?)
Of course not! Sometimes people's spelling can get a bit coarse.
