A few days ago Minimus posted a thread on flame wars at: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=39526&site=3 ... In it I commented about Tina & Julie, who posted here until about late February or early March, and acknowledged that I could and should have acted as a friend toward them rather than being like a lawyer ... being right or fighting over what seems right is not always as important as concern for people and what they are going through. I failed them in this regard.
A couple of people shared my comments with them, and both Tina and Julie responded right away in email to me. Frankly, I realized then even more how sad and foolish it was to have had such a huge flame war, and lost two good friends over things that could have been resolved differently.
They both accepted my apologies and made their own as well. And they both graciously offered to let the past be the past and move forward ... it speaks well of Tina and Julie because they readily opened up, forgave, apologized and wanted to move forward ... because it shows they are not prone to hold on to grudges, and do care a lot about people, even those they have had difficulties with ... so, we now have a new chapter to begin as even better friends than we were.
It would be good if such problems could be prevented ... and they can ... but being human we do not always do that ... so, the fact that we work things out does show our good nature ... and the fact that we can do this as equal adult to adult ... not needing an organization ... shows to me the good character we all possess and can use if we will. I feel really good about them, and very happy that they responded so fast.
They both mentioned posting something, but I am the only one of the three who is registered to post here ... so I am elected. Thanks again to Tina and Julie, two great ladies who show class when it counts.
As for reconciliation, well, I have some more to take care of, especially back in Oregon.
