Why did YOU want to live forever??

What was it about living forever that appealed to you when you were a JW?

Was it the idea that you'd have all the time in the world to do whatever you wanted to do? Were you thinking about travelling the world and seeing it all transformed into a paradise? Did you want to get to know all the "brothers and sisters" around the globe?

I'll bet that depends on how old you were when you believed it.

As youngsters, Tim and I thought it would be great to have the time to bicycle around the whole world and climb every tall tree in every forest.

so many things to do...clean up after armageddon...a "quick clean"...have my kids play with lions and tigers and snakes...take over a mansion that didn't get destroyed...be a prince in the new order in charge of Hollywood, Ca....greet people from the dead and tell them to be good or they'll be destroyed forever, again...

and all this in just the first 'day"...wow

    Why?

Cause that is all they offered. The alternative was destruction at armageddon, which was due next week.

In a (semi) recent conversation with my parents I had said to them that the whole time I was "In the Truth" I never once really wanted to live forever. Of course my mom was speechless (which is rare). If I remember how I felt back then the only thing that came to mind was being able to live peacefully with the animals. Seriously....how long can that last before it gets old? Granted...I would like another 100 years tacked on, but that is not the case right now. It is just too bad that we as humans don't smarten up quicker than we do. In this aspect I wish for another 100 years. Other than that...I see no sense to living forever. What's the point?

I think the most important factor would be ageing. Its one thing to live forever, its another to live forever without AGEING. Can you imaging what a 1,000 old woman would look like? My goodness, the boobs start to sag waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before then................

Living forever made up for the mundane existence of being a dub. However, in the end it was just mundane.
