My favorite lines where when Kirk said

Excuse me but what does God want with a space ship

That just sums up the JW thing for me

This is onacruse, posting under bikerchic's account until I get back online.

With all due respect: Kirk sucks and Janeway sucks.

Some of the themes in the original series were well thought out and quite deep. Many were metaphysical. The technical aspects in the original seem pretty weak by today's standards. I notice that many of the ideas in the original were borrowed for the "next generation". Patrick Stewart is by far the better actor, imho. Next Generation had a far larger budget than the original and they have come a long way with computer generated images.

    voyager is the best

    the borg episodes especially

voyager's storylines are much better and more exciting than the rest.

    Anyone think much to DS9?

Q episodes of TNG are great, the robin hood one was on yesterday.

I grew up with Classic Trek, but I think Picard is a better captain than Kirk, he's more dignified. I also liked Janeway but I wasn't a big DS9 fan. I watch 'Enterprise' cause it's there, and I like Trip but I don't much care for Archer. [or T'Pol - no offense logical]

    Classic Trek Rules!!

Though Next Generation is also excellent. Never cared for Deep Space Nine, and never got around to watching Voyager except for once or twice - it was pretty good, though. Maybe someday I'll buy the DVD's season by season and watch them all.

I've heard from friends that Enterprise is quite good, too, though I've never seen it.

The original is always the best for me. There is nothing like watching the old Star Trek shows with Captain Kirk, Spock, Dr. McCoy, and all the rest of the crew of the Star Ship Enterprise! When I was young, Star Trek night was family night in our house. We all use to get our bowls of popcorn and ice cream and sit down to watch this show together. Our family just loved Star Trek. So, the original will always have a special place in my heart.

Secretly, I think Jean Luc Picard is a great actor, and a hottie to boot!

Hi Robyn nice thread....I always enjoy a good Trek discussion.

I am really looking forward to the new film. Overall, I'd give Next Generation the edge as my favorite series. I like Picard, like Kenpo said, for negotiation, and Kirk for action. But actually, I had always felt that Captain Sisko was under-rated and under-appreciated perhaps by Trek fans. The voice alone that Avery Brooks brought to the character was notable. And though DS9 kind of made me feel claustrophobic inside that station, the characters were a great mix and actually played the angle of tension between themselves very well and with a good degree of humor.

I do watch Enterprise, and I generally like it....I love the opening song and intro too. But, I think we must face a certain fact - hot babes have almost totally taken over Trek. In Enterprise, T'Pol (Jolene Blalock) is in almost every scene these days. And Jeri Ryan as Seven Of Nine virtually took over Voyager, which evidently needed an infusion of babe-ness to try drawing back a waning audience. Of course, the hottie mega-babe Ryan has now virtually taken over Boston Public as well.

Hottest scene on TV these days - watching T'Pol get rubbed down with decontamination gel in the de-con room.
