I was at a party last night and the talk was about the price of this Australian wine called WOLF BLASS which was $16.99 Canadian. Now a good wine at our Liquor store costs around $10.99 give or take a buck, so my question was is this wine more money in Australia as well? Unfortunatley I didn`t get a chance to taste it either and wanted to know if it is any good?

my experience is that Wolf Bass is an average wine, average quality and price, nothing to write home about. My favourite red Aussie wine is Jasper Hill Shiraz, approx $80 Aus per bottle (needless to say do not partake of this drop often).

the price might be terrible but the wine is to die for... and tasts even better if brought by someone else, has been a long while since I had a glass of this special red.

i love a good drop of red but unfortuantely my budget doesnt allow for my expensive tastes.
I quite often drink a glass McGuigans Black Label.
Dog Ridge Shiraz 2000 is a particularly nice drop IMHO. About NZ$15-20 (US$7-10)
However Ozziepost is our resident wine expert here. I'm just a red-nose.

...and I'm just a try-hard red-nose cos I still put red wine in the fridge (pronounced frudge) and have white at room temperature...will I ever learn???

The last red wine I had was a drop of Shiraz with red-nose above LOL.

I just have to chime in and say, you Oz folk do make a damn fine Shiraz. Rosemount Estate is one of my favorites..
