G'day all,
A lot of generalisations in the replies here!!
You're right, Beans, in thinking that a bottle of Wolf Blass costs a little more in Oz. At least some vintages and labels do, but not all. That's the qualification I'd make. There's different bins and different labels, red, gold, etc. Pick your "drop" and pay accordingly.
Is it any good? It's OK if there's nothing else available IMO. Does that tell you something? I personally wouldn't pay a premium price for a wine that is not as good as others, like Taylors, of the same price range.
Now I see that joannadandy appreciates the Rosemount label. You may be interested in this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=35848&site=3
Unfortunately Mrs Ozzie and I had an unhappy experience with a bottle of cabernet shiraz 2001 last week, which has tempered my enthusiasm for the label. Perhaps I'm being harsh as it was a blend, but even so..... Well, I always carry a bottle of Rosemount Black Label Shiraz in the boot of the car....just in case, you understand!!!!
Ozzie's personal favourite is a private bin shiraz from a family winery in the Margaret River region of Western Australia. I've got a cellar full of it, but there's no point in looking in the retail outlets 'cos it's not there! It's not sold in retail outlets, but is supplied privately and is the preferred wine for the W.A. government at their functions. Some of our good friends know a little about it and have shared a bottle (or two) with us. It's incredible! Worth around......nah, I'm not telling, but it'd be more than $30 - $40.
Cheers, Ozzie

Wifey and I really like Rosemont's Shiraz. Lovely.
Thanks all....!!!!! OZZIPOST your opinion is always valued on any topic, and this one as well, CHEERS.
I am no wine expert but when I taste one I like I seem to have a good palet! Currently I am drinking MASI Valpolicella 2000 and I love it.
