I have heard that Michael Jackson has a skin condition which has altered his skin color(which is lighter) and makes his skin peel. I heard this a few years back when everyone was talking about him bleaching his skin. He said this wasn't true and gave the explanation of an inherited rare skin disease that effects black people. True?

But, I feel sorry for his kids. These are going to be some screwed up people some day. Rich, but screwed up.

    Hi,

I wish to comment on this one... Michael Jackson has a mental disorder which disables him from having an accurate "image" of himself... similar to an anorexic who looks into the mirror and sees a "fat" person, when in fact they are dangerously underweight. There is a diagnostic term for it that I don't have memorized.....

I DO know that he has altered his appearance - at least to some degree - because his (former) resemblance to his father made him gross out.

I relate to that; I am way too thin for my height because when I'm at normal weight, I am reminded of my father, whose guts I loathe, when I look in a mirror. I have compassion for Michael Jackson. His childhood was a freakin nightmare. Think about how screwed up it must have been for him to try and be a "faithful" jw in the crazy arena of super-stardom while being beaten on a daily basis by a freak parent

He didn't ask to be born, and has no access to "normal" relationships. How do I know these things? It's too long a story to tell right now, but believe me, if you knew some stuff, you'd have a LOT more empathy and compassion....

    Oy Vey, lauralisa

lauralisa, I think your "take" on the king of pop is very insightful and accurate.

I saw the movie on VH1 about the Jacksons, and my heart broke for all of those children who grew up in a household with a bully (narcissistic personality disorder most likely) father and weak-willed JW mom. Without years of therapy and some education, how could any of them be expected to have a chance at gaining self-esteem, self-acceptance or self-empowerment. I know it was just a movie, but I don't think anybody got sued for inaccurate portrayal of the people or situations.

It is sad that Michael and his siblings are not likely to get healthy in this lifetime.

The movie was produced for ABC Television in the USA by one of Michael Jackson's older brothers. It was called "Jacksons: An American Dream". So this story was definitely told from the viewpoint of one who knew, and of course with a very positive spin.

Another poster mentioned Michael's skin disease. I knew a JW lady of color who told me she had the same disease as Michael Jackson. It's called "leukoderma" or "vitiligo", which is defined as "partial or total loss of skin pigmentation, often occurring in patches".

Sabine, strangely the one congregation I did feel accepted in was one in New Orleans that was black. I don't just mean predominantly. Other than us, who were visitors, there were maybe eight other white people, out of a cong. of about 200. It's my fondest jw moment.

As per the jacksons, I've talked too Rebbie, the oldest sister @ a couple of conv. She was really nice, but very guarded.
