Here's some fun! Next time you meet some vacuum skulled Witness that believes
Armageddon is "soon", challenge them to define "soon".

Is "soon" 6 months? a year? two years? Five? ten? a hundred?

If they say five or beyond, reproach them for being deceptive - that's not soon.

If they say two years or less, pull out your wallet and ask them to put up or
    shut up.

"I'll bet a thousand dollars, you're wrong!" Get it in writing!

Remember, across thousands of years, no one has ever lost this bet!

metatron ( inspired by the late Julian Simon, who got fed up with
environmental doomsayers and won the bet from Paul Ehrlich)

Haven't you already figured out what the answer will be? The JW will look at you very smugly and self-righteously, and declare, "Well, we don't set specific dates, but we know it will not be much longer!"

In the congregation I was associated with while I still went in service our PO would ask the householder in his introduction if he or she would like to be living in a paradise within 3-5 years.

Although I have no way of knowing, I am sure he still uses that number in his presentation.

Last time I asked my mother the response was "no one knows, only Jehovah. It will be when he wants it to happen." When I bring up 1975, she claims amnesia.

Dubs came to my door last spring. I asked them. I got the same response. I think the programming has changed to "no one knows, only Jehovah. It will be when he wants it to happen."

That wager idea is a really sure thing. Think about it, if you are right (which you are) you get $1,000. If you are wrong, you will likely be dead, so what's $1,000. If you're not dead, the government that printed the money will be gone, so it shouldn't be too hard to get your hands on some worthless cash and hand it over.

It's foolproof. Unfortunately, they will just continue to come up with better fools.
