I was once described as a "postmodern Jehovah's Witness" by a non JW friend. Was an elder at the time.

I was never devout about much of anything when in.... I was forced into the JW world and was just waiting for the right time to leave. My life in the JW's was completely fake, altho the brainwashing stuck for a while.
All those years faking people out ended up being helpful for when I ran away and was able to survive using those same skills.
