I like Plantains green, sliced diagonally and fried. I prefer the ripe ones boiled, smashed, and then fried. If my wife were here we'd be making pastelles too. As it is, I have Charge of Quarters (CQ) on Thanksgiving day and won't be cooking a turkey for the first time in 10 years. For the non-military, CQ is when I get to sit at the Barracks and babysit the new soldiers and answer phones.

Francois - I am drooling over the keyboard reading your families thanksgiving menu. Sounds incredible! If you invite Sabine and me, we promise to break out something really good from our wine cellar. ; ) We love enthnic food.
Not sure yet what we are doing for T-day. We will definitely cook a bird (probably 12lb plus) and all the trimmings. ; I love wild rice, mushroom stuffing, combo of sweet potato and regular mashed potato etc. If there is snow in the mountains we will try and get in a couple of days of skiing.

to my beloved Canadians Mouthy and Beans I don't need any reasons to celebrate a holiday, every day I find a reason to celebrate be we canadians or americans and I love Turkey any day of the week I love to get into the spirit of everyones holidays. Thanksgiving is wonderful. I love the story of how the pilgrims came to the americas and how they struggled and how eventually the native americans became friends to the early settlers, it is just to bad it didn't stay that way. Well Beans you know me so well. I just love that wacky tabaccy....yum yum.
