  I know your joking about the cat..just trying to get your point across of how bad a day he had.

  I would say #1....Then i would sit and listen no matter how long it took

  Then I would tell him everything will be alright.

  Then i would make him his favorite dinner.

  Mix his favorite drink.

  Give him a full body massage.

  And then...

  If he kicks the cat I would hardly care, cause I have a firm dislike for cats [sorry all you catlovers]. But, should he kick my dog, I'd skin him.

  As a general rule, if my man has a bad mood, I ignore him.

  Edited to add, when he has calmed down, I'd sit next to him and listen, give him that beer or smoke and do whatever to please him.
