I live in the Philadelphia, PA area. As a young boy in the early 1980's, 'The Benny Hill Show' used to come on a UHF channel (locally). I used to laugh at and enjoy the show very much (I also like another BBC comedy show called 'Dave Allen At-Large'). When I was about 14 years old (1984), they stopped showing Benny Hill. Eventually, Benny Hill (the person) died. I haven't seen a Benny Hill episode in 18 years. Until...

Tuesday night. Benny Hill shows come on every weeknight (or morning) at 1:00-1:30 and 1:30-2:00. I wanted to see if, as an adult, the show was as funny as I made it out to be as a kid. My answer: YUP! Benny Hill was a comic genius and his timing was clever. I laughed and laughed the other night and I'm going to start taping the episodes.

For all of you who grew up as JWs: This was probably one of the shows that your mommy and daddy restricted you from watching. If you ever get the chance, check out a few episodes.

Does this show still run in England?

I used to watch Benny Hill also when I was a teen. It came on late night. I remember it as being funny as hell. I'll try and look for it on BBC.

    Lilacs-

I didn't mean to imply that it's airing on BBC America. In fact, it's being shown on a local channel here in Philly. Sorry about the confusion.

    JT...

Say what? You guys at Bethel used to watch Benny Hill??? LOL! Man, I wasn't even allowed to watch 'Three's Company' let alone Benny Hill (Just because I wasn't allowed didn't mean I didn't sneak up late and watch it...LOL!).

By the way, JT, here are a couple of more British shows you should try to check out: 'Keeping Up Appearances', which DOES air on BBC and usually a PBS station. AND...

'Father Ted', which doesn't air in America that I know of. But, badwillie owns some DVDs of Father Ted and that show is HILARIOUS!!!

Benny Hill was a great show. I loved the "Sale of the Half-Century" game show skit.

One time I dared to watch Benny about two weeks after hernia surgery. I tried to control my laughter but could not, and I had to leave the room. Too funny, man.

Benny Hill's show was a "guilty pleasure" for me on Saturday nights. Yes, even when I was a ministerial servant. Shhhhh!

I'd be watching and say "did he really just do that"? Oh those naughty Brits!!
