..."my conception was because my mother misread the scripture about doing whatever it took to bring another to God. So, my dad said he'd study as long as she slept with him, and being young in the truth - she did. Voila - she's pregnant with me"...

Grudger. Hmmm. I think the classification (in Old Testament terms)would be that you were concieved in sin and wickedness, so perhaps it is no surprise that you have fallen away from the truth. As for Eric and Prisca, second and third generation dubbies, their "generations were pure" and, expecially Prisca, third generation. She must be a BIG disappointment to Jehovah. Doubtless thousands of guardian angels are saddened that she has fallen away because now they are out of a job.

Nah, I think I keep them entertained with what I get up to since I left the Borg.

One can only hope that they are not witnessing such things as the Angels prior to the flood witnessed.

Things that made them to be filled with lust towards "the daughters of men".

Refiners - Sounds familiar to what I experienced being raised a JW in the late 50' and 60's - "upbuilding dinner conversation" (daddy was the congregation servant), bible games, putting on mini bible dramas, playing and singing KH songs - except at the time my brother, sister and I really enjoyed it. Gave a #2 at the circuit assembly when I was 6 years old - played in the circuit and district assembly orchestras starting at 9 years. Oh - did I mention dad was the cong servant/PO and also conducted the circuit orchestra?

My grandfather on father's side joined up in 1918 - my great grandmother on mother's side started reading the literature and having some form of association with the Bible Students (Texas) in the late 1890's.

Wife and I finally left after memorial of 2000.

Eric - LOL - Oholah and Oholabah - there's a bible story to perk up the interest of young boys.

    Have a great weekend all!

    ..."upbuilding dinner conversation"....

Makena. Indeed. During the 60s the Watchtower recommended the question titling this thread as a conversation point. I wonder if they still do, or has it disappeared into the mists of time. recalled only by old timers like us?

I remember the days of the orchestra in our kingdom hall too. A woman called Jean Pepperal used to plonk on the piano. she was so slow that everyone used to groaannn out the words keeping pace with her. Too funny.

I gotta an excuse, I gotta an excuse!!!!! - Does that give me any reprieve at judgement day? I mean it's not like I stood a chance from conception right?!

Ah, yes, those were the days. I remember them as if they were yesterday. One minute I was doing normal things like playing kiss chase and putting frogs down girl's blouses, and the next minute I seemed to be saying daft things like "no I can't be in the nativity play because I'm a Jehovah's Witness", all because some woman called Kim called at our house proclaiming the good news to anyone who'd listen. I blame My Book of Bible Stories. I was struck by the suffering of Job, and the yellowness of the cover, and the talking ass.
