Animated GIF or JPG Picture, you choose

Would you like an animated GIF rather than a JPG as your profile? Look at this site below. It offers a huge choice of animated GIF

Just choose a .GIF that you like on that site. Click on it to enlarge it. Then right click to get the properties like pictured below. Then highlight the URL like i did below. Once highlited, then copy it (ctrl c).

Then,Go into MODIFY MY PROFILE, all you have to do is PASTE it where it says PICTURE URL, like showed below.

Dont click where it says click here to upload a picture for your profile, if you want a .GIF

It's just as easy (and better) to save the picture to your computer (right-click and click "Save As") then in "Modify Profile" click where it says "Click here to upload for your profile" and upload the picture onto this site.

It works exactly the same way. It's just that it's not fair on the owners of websites to directly link to their images without permission.

When you right click like you say, you save it to your hard disc. It will be animated, but it will not work on this site.(jehovah-witnesses.com)

I tried that at first. The pictures stays still just like a jpg. It will be animated, but not on this site....

Thats why I wrote in detail the only way for it to work. (above)

Everybody on this site does it this way. For fun right click on any animated gif on this site that other users have, and you will see that the URL is just like I said. They didn't save to disk. I just will not be animated that way

Please don't do this. There are numerous reasons why this is a bad idea.

First of all is the fact that you're linking to images stored on someone else's webserver. Often times, webmasters don't host their own sites, they pay someone else to do it for them. They pay based on how much traffic their site gets. For everytime that YOU use one of their images THEY have to pay for it. Probably not much but it adds up. Also, often times sites pay for that bandwidth with advertising. When you just use one image from their site they don't get the money from their advertisers. Personally, I hate all the ads on the net but, like it or not, that's how the bills are paid.

Another reason why you shouldn't do this is because its just downright annoying. Sure, you may think an animated logo is cute or funny but when you're trying to read a post that constant movement draws your eye and makes it hard to focus on what you're actually trying to read and personaly, when I see someone using their fancy little animated logo it just makes me think of someone who's words aren't strong enough and they have to resort to stupid little gimmicks to get people's attention.

The moderator of this site says we can either use JPG pictures, OR .gif animations.

They pay based on how much traffic their site gets. For everytime that YOU use one of their images THEY have to pay for it.

Tell that to the moderator who offers us the choice of JPG or animated GIF

By saving the file to our hard disc instead, it will not be animated anymore when uploaded. TRY IT
