^^ Prisca: Actually wouldn't it be more correct to write:

    British (or Queen's) English: programme

    American English: program

This May, my 6 year old son came down with something called "post-viral arthritis". It attacked his joints and caused him tremendous pain. It is apparently quite rare, and fortunately only lasted a few weeks. But it is very hard for a parent to listen to their child scream in pain and not be able to stop it. I used to be able to watch such programs and programmes (I'm bilingual) but I find I cannot anymore since my wife and I have had children. It just hits too close to home. My biggest and only fear left in life is that something horrible would happen to my two kids.

When I lived in a small country town, there was a child that suffered the very same illness.

By the age of 10 she looked like she was 90 years old. She died when she was 12.

These things make us count our blessings.

Life is a gift, and we never know when it could end. Humans as well as animals do suffer. We are faced with the same realities. We are all biological units that break down. Some are more fortunate than others, but sickness always finds it way. So enjoy life while it lasts. Lets hope that God exists and that we all can live forever like we were taught.

Doesn't the WTS cater to people's desires by offering life forever on a paradise earth where everything we ever we desired will be ours?

Seems to me.........that ever since childhood we have expected that we should receive good things and kinda grow up expecting it.

Of course, life isn't like that and those who live in a sense of unreality find it so much more difficult to bear.

    "Spiritual materialism" indeed!

    Cheers, Ozzie

I read you are going through radiation?

My husband has liver and lung cancer. He had one series of chemo and it shrunk the lung tumor but the liver got worse. It is very hard to treat liver cancer because most chemo drugs go through the liver! There isn't much of his liver left.

They could only use drugs that went through the kidneys..and there aren't too many of them!.

We saw a new Dr today and he told him about a newer drug they could use but it would be very risky...it goes through the liver!

He is a JW so he is not afraid to die. He said he is just afraid of pain.

We are still trying to decide what to do!

The chemo could stop or even shrink some of the tumors..but on the other hand..it could kill him faster!

He just retired in January. He is 62 and never smoked!

This thread is very important to me! We took a lot for granted. Now that time may be short...we don't even know where to begin...

I hope your chemo goes well for you.

I can't stress check-ups . At least the basics. He hasn't had a chest X Ray for years. If he had we might have caught it earlier. Before it spread.

So don't take things for granted! And don't assume all is well!

I have heard some say..I don't want to know....Yes you do!..The sooner the better!

    Especially with cancer!.

Funny..hubby is so undecided as to what to do...I told him to pray for guidance!

Pretty good coming from someone who has a hard time believing there is a God!.....

    Snoozy........

    God...or no God...either way:

"taking for granted" is a violation of the human spirit.
