I'm impressed that Valeri takes the time to reply to her emails. I just got this:

    From: "Williams, Valeri" <[email protected]>

    Subject: RE: THANK YOU!

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with me. Frankly,
I've been very surprised at the depth of this problem with the JW religion.

    Regards,

    Valeri Williams

    Hello Valeri,

I want to take a moment to thank you and WFAA-TV for your recent report, "Claims of sexual abuse raised against religious group - Victims say Jehovah's Witness church has covered up incidents."

I was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for more than 20 years in New York
City. My association with the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society began
when I was about seven years old and my mom began "studying the Bible" with a JW who knocked on our door one day. By the time I was in my early/mid 20's, I had been appointed a "Ministerial Servant" in my congregation, and it was then that I learned from a friend who was an elder that we had a pederast in our own congregation, a young man with the initials R.B. who conducted many "Bible Studies" with very young boys. The elders learned that R.B. had been taking these boys - many of whom were from broken homes, if I recall correctly - on "camping trips" where things would happen that the boys were told never to talk about.

The local elders in that congregation (the Middle Village congregation in Queens, NY) decided to do nothing about the allegations. A while later, R.B. became engaged to a young JW woman in another congregation whose first marriage had ended in divorce. She was never told about her fiance's past. She had two small children at home.

As I stated, the friend who told me about this was an elder in the
congregation and he told me about it sometime after it had taken place. He was troubled by the congregation committee's inaction in this matter, but as a faithful JW and an earnest believer in God's Justice he felt all he could do was to "leave the matter in Jehovah's hands."

I left the JWs soon after learning of this.

Thanks again for helping to bring this matter more fully into the light.

I too sent an e-mail thanking her for covering this matter, It should be noted that they are not as clean as they appear to be.
