Smoldering Wick,

((((((((((gumby)))))))))))))
alone......and bored out of my mind
Kelpie,
Well, in the United States Thanksgiving day is officially the 4th Thursday in November. Canada does theirs in October, which is closer to the Harvest (and the original date of the pilgrim celebration). The Jews do theirs in late September or Early October (The Feast of Sukkot), culturally, harvest festivals exist in almost every civilization.
Nobody should be alone on Thanksgiving.
There are so many people who dont have family or cant afford to make a large dinner etc. for various reasons.
I had a few hours free today so I volunteered for the "Friends of the Elderly". We prepared and served Thanksgiving dinner for hundreds of elderly, underprivlaged and even some who just were just away from home. (college students etc.) So many charitable organizations need help during the holidays. Its also a great way to meet people. Many young people were there helping. (exchanging phone # s too).
Anyway, If you are single or just happen to be alone during the holidays, you may want to give it a thought. You would be doing a great service to the community and yourself.
Wick,
does your sister live close enough for you to spend the holidays with her and her family? That is better than being alone.
Our Thanksgiving was just me an my three children but I was still with my mom, dad, grandma, aunt and uncle. I made sure to call them. They were all at my Aunt Leanns and I and my kids spoke to each and everyone of them. LOL, I almost forgot how much of a northern accent my aunt had until today.
Thank god for the telephone.......reach out and touch someone!
northern accent

Hey, Ascot and S. Wick, I got your post, ,,, come on down.......Wild Turkey and I live in Louisiana, so we have that good ole southern cooking down here. We had a great dinner and all look bloated now.........lol. Next year we might do the deep fried cajun turkey, ahhhhhhhh the possibilities.
Around here in Louisiana food is the center of our entertainment,,,,,,,, everything revolves around good eatin' here, you should try our mudbugs(crawfish),,,, they will be in season around March to April, and they are to die for........yum yum,,,,,, peel those tails and dip them in butter and cocktail sauce. We really do thrive on the southern hospitality ,,,,,, open door policy round here, so come on down!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dede...........Filthy and I are coming for crawdads! They are my favorite! There is only one place around here where we can get them, but I bet they don't compare to what you guys have!
