their doctrine teaches that you are going to be destroyed at Armaggedon and you are as good as dead.

Has anyone else heard a JW, when a relative has been disfellowshipped, that it would have been better if that person had died? I've heard it said on more than one occasion. The reasoning of course is that if dead, the person would have been resurrected. But getting yourself disfellowshipped ... why, you're feeding right into Satan's hands.

I can't believe I never woke up earlier to all this crap!!!

Yep. Had it said to my face. My mom said it would have been better had I not been born, and my brother said it would be such a shame after Armaggedon when my deceased grandfather is resurrected how he would have to explain to him that I was not there because I turned my back on God and was destroyed, but it was alright, the family would have forever to get over it.

The epitome of Christian love eh?

Scadenfreude - Is that what I get when certain football teams lose a match? ... lovely word, I will use it all the time.

Among the congo, I saw it most when Aids became a topic of news . The gloating over the suffering of others ..[because it was perceived they had broken Gods laws , and J W's were protected because they dont take blood either].. was sad to behold.

My essay on "Why JWs are the Happiest People on Earth" from last December:

(hint: the idea of Schadenfreude figures largely in my reasoning)

Not only has my mother written me off for dead, she's also greatly depressed over the fact that both her grandchildren are condemned to die for their mother's actions as well. The guilt trips she would put on me!!!! It was never enough that I condemned myself to death - now I'm a murderer too - a murderer of her own family.

{{hugs}} Pettygrudger, that guilt can be laid on pretty thick can't it? Never seems to go back the other way though, huh?

If you didn't laugh ...you'd go mad.

When I was DF and still going to meetings, it was like being a "dead girl walking" with all your 'former' brothers and sisters sneaking glances at the wicked girl sitting down the back. Kind of like the gawk factor at a motor accident. "did you see her? She's the one who turned her back on Jehovah! How dreadful for her family, they must be so disappointed." Blech.

((Outback)) remember those days well - I went to my own DF announcement, and looking back, its almost hysterical the audible "gasp", with everyone straining their necks to get a peek at the car accident sitting in the back row! Its funny, like you were diagnosed with small pox or something, and then exhaling in their air space!

    Can't beat true Christian love.

The sad thing is that we ARE dead in their eyes.

My uncle (with tears in his eyes) once told my sister that he shouldnt even bother to form a relationship with my children since they are going to be killed in Armageddon anyway.

    How sick is that.
