OK have taken advice and started own thread - actually feel a wee bit nervous about this - but what the heck! You only live once right **grin**.
I am from Sydney Australia - was brought up as a JW and have been disfellowshipped once...when I was 21 yo currently 29. I only came back in because I am terrified of Armageddon.....living in fear is not good for the mind!!
Does anyone else understand this fear????

Yes I do know that fear only too well. It can be a painful process to face and overcome it. I hope you are coping with it well.
Lets see, ... fear of Armageddon ... Nope, never came up in my congregation.

As for your ? yes most everyone here has lived and felt the same way. I am sure you will find some info here that will help you not to fear the Armageddon JW's teach to control the masses.
I was disfellowshipped 12yrs ago at the age of 15. I never returned, and am almost 27 now and have a son who is almost 9.
YEAH I know this can be really confronting! I have been "living" with this for a few years now and find it hard to get through sometimes....I also missed my family.
But yeah I am sure will survive!!

I think everyone who posts here will understand your fear of armaggedon, your in good company. its a phobia installed on a regular basis during Watchtower studies. I'd recommed researching the JWS and mental health threads here, you will benifit from it.

Hmmmm..........maybe you came back for the wrong reasons.....being "terrified of Armageddon" wouldn't be one of mine, if you think its all crap like most do here on this forum, then be prepared to hear that. Sounds like you have doubts about the JWs though, if so, again many here are ex-JWs and will be more than happy to "help you out"........however, you are right living in fear is not a good reason for staying in.....maybe you have more to tell..........Welcome anyway!!!
I have had a quick surf through some of the stuff on this site and some of it is really confronting....but interesting at the same time if ya know what I mean...

Hi there, I'm also living in Sydney. Small world, huh? There are a few Aussies on this board, and about half a dozen Sydneysiders, and we have bbqs occasionally, so you're welcome to come along if you want.
Getting back to your question, I lost my fear of Armageddon over time. I think I lost faith that it would actually happen. And then I found information showing the errors in their prophecying, and it became obvious that the GB weren't divinely inspired, and everything else fell into place after that.
The JWs are just like any other Christian religion. They have their faults, and they have their advantages. But they don't have any more claim on God than any other religion.
