This is a question for an active Witness. Do Witnesses believe Jesus is the Christ, the predicted Messiah? If not, is Messiah still to come?

Kurt,
That would be the standard Dub line yes, but I'm a never have been never will be guy...life long CATHOLIC.
Hi Kurt and welcome!
I take it from your question you are not/never were on of Jehovahs Witnesses. I myself have been a JW for over 40 years but have severe doubts that at present are leading me in new directions.
JWs do believe that Jesus is the Christ or Messiah and is the Son of God. They do not believe him to be the same as God, and hence do not believe in the Trinity as taught by most other Christian religions.
However, the problem with JW dogma is that they glorify God (Jehovah) almost to the total exclusion of Christ. They recognise the ransom of Christ and pray for Gods Kingdom in the hands of Christ, but IMO the average JW knows little of what it really means to come to know the Christ. Those of the Great Crowd, the vast majority of JWs today, do not part take of the bread and wine at the annual memorial of Christs death as celebrated by the witnesses. Hence, they cannot understand some of the basic teaching of the NT that clearly states that unless we are born again and share in the body and blood of Christ, we cannot come into a relationship with Christ and God.
Many on this board are former JWs who have become atheists, agnostics or sceptics. Others, like myself have come to understand what belief in God and Christ is about and are trying to find new ways of growing spiritually and expressing our beliefs.
What ever your views, may I wish you well with your quest

Do Witnesses believe that Christ was born without sin or the taint of Adam? And what does it mean to have "faith" in Christ from their viewpoint?
Witnesses believe that Jesus didn't become the Christ until his baptism at age 30.
The scriptures teach that he already was Christ at birth (Luke 2:11).
They believe he was born w/out sin, because God impregnated Mary, thus taking out the sin from adam (not sure why women's DNA isn't flawed, but its all a story anyway) I guess it was supernatural insemination, took a fertalized egg and put it in Mary's Uterus. So they believe he was born w/o sin.
Having "faith" in christ in their viewpoint is believing that he
1) Existed
2) was God's son
3) was the Ransom Sacrifice to free us from sin
4) That is is the reigning king in heaven w/his almost 144,000 kingpriests waiting to destroy 99.9% of the world in armageddon.
JWs say Faith is the "assured expectation of things hoped for....yet not beheld" so to them it means to believe this even if they can't see it.
Perhaps Christ is that sacred part of all of us where the memories of who and what we really are abide, only waiting to be awakened. Jesus was able to access that place within himself and so became the Christ.
Witnesses believe that jesus didnt become the christ untill age 30
Can you give any documentation of JW litature on this? That's wierd, i dont remember that one.
Yes. I'll provide documentation shortly. It is in the "Knowlege that Leads to Everlasting Life" Book as well as several other books and Watchtowers. I'll post a reference or two shortly.
You are right in that it is very weird. In fact it can be interpreted as being a denial that Christ came in the flesh. Romans 9:5 compare with 2 John 7. Since the Bible teaches that Jesus was Christ when he was born (Romans 9:5) and the Watchtower denies this, they may have the spirit of anti-Christ (2 John 7.)
Ok, thanks hoob
