My friend and i went to rent a movie from Blockbuster Video and they charged us a late fee for a movie i rented 3 months ago. I have rented dozens of movies since then and they never said anything and i am positive i got it back on time. This has happeded before.

Soooo...to make a long story short....I went home and got on line and did a search on Blockbuster....nothing but locations and stuff on new releases...blah blah blah...so i started to think ...hmmm maybe they just made a mistake with me...thats cool.

On a whim I typed in Blockbuster ripoff and poof!! Tons of sites popped up . 100's of people with the same gripe as mine most even worse. Just think of the millions of dollars they are making off us!! Screw them!

Netflix...I think it's called is an online video store that you can rent as many videos as you want and keep them for months for just 20 dollars a month. They send you a big envelope to send them back...No shipping charge. I heard Blockbuster is planning to compete with them soon on this....They just lost my business forever!!

Well, I guess it's a good thing that I've never used Blockbuster! I've heard of Netflix. Actually, sounds like a deal, but ya have to wait a few days to get your movies, and you don't get another until you send one back. But hey, for 20 bucks, might be worth it.

I went into Blockbuster last winter to rent a movie. I was told to fill out their application, it looked like something you would submit to buy a house. I told them I didn't need their movies that much and left. They will not be getting my business either.

I discovered the convenience of pay-per-view. It's great, no late fees and I don't have to travel to the nearest video store (which btw, is a Blockbuster - they're based in this area so they are everywhere) to get a video. I am not fond of BB either. Seems like a real money making racket. Do I sense a class action law suit??

just thought id throw in my two cents about netflix.........

we (my live-in s.o. and i) just joined up about a month ago (the first three weeks are free i think), and we absolutely love it so far. you get three movies at a time (dvds) for the $20 price, and there are more expensive plans that give you more at a time, if three isnt enough for you. anyhow, three has been pretty good for us. it works out nicely, because if you space them out a little, you almost always have at least one new movie to watch every couple of days. the nice part is, they have pretty much every title ever released on dvd (excluding porn ), so you can browse and browse for hours when picking your movies. then youve got your wish list on line (ours is over 100 movies already), and when you send back one movie, the next one on your list is automatically shipped out. basically the turnaround time is about a week from when you drop your movie in the mail. there are some other features on the site that are very helpful as well, such as "people who liked this movie also liked......", which gives you some ideas. i was surprised at how many movies are out there that ive never even heard of.....and weve watched some great ones already. we are movie freaks when it comes to renting.....we used to spend about 20 bucks a pop in hollywood video about once a week (of course thats including their overpriced candy and popcorn), if not more. so, to sum up, i highly reccomend netflix, its definitely saving us money already.

Personally, I would not have paid for something over 3 months earlier as it would not be reasonable for anyone to remember IMHO provided I had been in there more regularly and rented things in the meatime.

I've not got any complaints with blockbuster.

Your lucky, you didn't recieve the little demand for late fee payments, and threats to send to collection. They're customer service sucks, they ended up charging my late fee to my credit card without my premision.

Sheeesh! Rent a movie, return it on time, ask for receipt. How hard is that? As for your credit card being charged with late fees, that's the reason they ask for it when you become a member.

Hey Dubla...I found a place to rent the porn dvd's like Netflix it's at Flicksmart.com.

We're big fans of Netflix, too, especially since we were able to cut our monthly fee to $14 when needed (only able to have 2 out at a time, but since we're right by one of their mailing centers, it's no problem).

I've never had a good experience with Blockbuster stores, so we either stick to ordering pay per views or like now, use Netflix. Works for me.

LOL. What makes for a good or bad experience at a store? The only 'bad experience' I can think of is maybe when a place doesn't have a movie I want. You've never had a good experience? What do they do, pelt you guys with eggs when you walk in the door? I can't imagine a retail experience being either good OR bad. The most one can ask for is a neutral experience. Go to the store, get what you need, leave.
