A while back we had a thread on the wonders of duct tape. It is some handy stuff and every household should have a roll.
It so happened that my daughter's doctor had just called me to suggest using duct tape to clear up the warts on her fingers. We started trying to get rid of them last May. Zoe is four and had one on her index finger and two on her middle finger. The doctor tried freezing them (that was not fun) but they spread and grew. She sent us to a dermatologist who spent three months using acid and a prescription cream that is supposed to thin the skin. They grew to be enormous and a couple new ones popped up. By this time we had spent hundreds and the problem was worse so I decided to give up and let nature take it's course. They will eventually go away.
The day after we made this decision there was an article in USA today about using duct tape to get rid of warts. The next day my doctor called and suggested we try it as it is painless and was supposed to be more effective than freezing. She said to wrap the tape around ONE wart. You don't have to cover them all. Leave the tape on for six days and take it off for one. Repeat about three times. Well, it took much longer. I decided to just do six days on and one day off for as long as it took. It worked. They are almost completely gone and the new small ones that had appeared are completely gone.
One warning, if you try this be prepared for some stink. They start to really smell bad when the tape starts working. The last couple of weeks her fingers smelled like a cast on a broken bone.
After spending hundreds of dollars at the dermatologist, we found the cure was in the garage the whole time. The roll had been paid for years ago and the cost was pennies. We probably used six to ten inches of tape.
