    Princess and All--

Princess: Sorry your little one had to go through the trial and error of traditional wart treatment. I know it was painful for her and costly.

I heard about this study a few months ago, on NPR (I think). I think this is a great idea, especially for kids. Anyone who has had cryotherapy knows it's painful. Paring and scraping w/ cryotherapy is even worse, not to mention Bleomycin injections. UGH! OTC treatments take forever.

Hopefully the link above works, it leads to an article about the wart/duct tape study.

Thanks for the link RN, it was interesting. I didn't get the soaking and filing directions and it still worked. I started mid September (I think, maybe early Oct) and just last week we took the tape off for good.

The article said a dermatologist was discouraging the treatment because they don't know if the wart comes back or not. It isn't tested. Or maybe he sees dollars disappearing with people flocking to the hardware store instead. Trust me, it worked, it was painless and took about two months.

Tomorrow I'm going to call the dermatologist to let her know. I'm sure she'll be thrilled.

    Rachel,

Thanks for letting us know how it went with the duct tape and your daughter's warts. I found it interesting that you only have to cover ONE wart to get rid of them all.

I also read somewhere that a hot Xmas item this year is duct tape purses.

It really was amazing how it worked. I think it's a starvation of oxygen. But who knows? The odd thing is you only have to do it to one of them.

Forgive me if I am skeptical.

But you mean to tell me if you have several warts (as in Princess's child's case) then if you put duct tape on one of the warts (as an example let us assume a wart is on her right arm) then the other warts (say on her left leg) will heal?

Forgive me if I am mistaken, but several people are attributing this cure to deprivation of oxygen. Would not the warts that were not covered still be receiving oxygen?

    HMM.

Really? If this is accurate, then is the miracle cure dreams are made of! Imagine that! People wrapping their faces in industrial-grade duct tape like Tutankhamen to remedy skin ailments.

I am not trying to disprove anyone's claim or be rude, but this just seems a bit hard to believe.

I know, Reborn, it sounds so weird, but I can tell you it works.

This was my first instinct, but it has to be something in the tape itself, that does it.

I had warts when I was a teenager, and I got rid of them by taping a lemon peel to the biggest one. It was the "seed" wart. All the others came from that one. It worked. I don't know why I thought to do that.

I know that usually the warts in one area (like on your hand) are all connected by "threadlike" things. If the warts are on distant areas of the body, I doubt it would work.

    Weird stuff Mulan.

Don't get me wrong I sincerely hope the duct-tape treatment DOES work for people who suffer from warts. I just never imagined that using duct-tape would alleviate ailments of the epidermis. You should solicit your story to Woman's Day or Prevention Magazine or one of the other popular female/mother - inclined periodicals. I am sure they would enjoy your story and most likely publish it to get word out to women elsewhere so others may receive treatment if it does indeed work.

BTW what do the english call the tubular area the hot air from the furnance or cold air from central air condition travels through?

    Hot air = chimney

    cold air = ducting.
