Lilacs I'll takje a stab at why you are overweight even with your high workload. First of all, am I right in saying you don't eat much? So you run yoru ass off all day on little to no fuel, and wonder why you can't lose weight? Does it make much sense to put the body into overdrive while giving it no food? The secret to losing weight is not eating less, it's eating MORE. Eat the proper foods at regular intervals. All you are doing by not eating is triggering your body to conserve fat, as it is led to believe that you are in starvation mode. Eating nothing but starchy high glycemic carbohydrates is also damaging. You might as well spoon sugar into your mouth all day as that is basically the equivlent. Check out the website or email me if you have any questions. [email protected]

I agree with FFV on this , although I am not practicing it.........I have read alot of books , diet books , tv programs and they all say ,,,,,,, portion control, watch the carbs and fat, calories do count , eat 6 small meals a day, and exercise . The thing is ,,,,,, it really is simple and can be done by even those who are flat out lazy like me. I could physically walk my ass around the block for 30 minutes a day easy........ Personally I know why I am not doing these things. I don't mean to say it will be easy to do these little steps, I know losing weight is hard to do. But little steps is one step closer to getting healthy and fit.

I think I have a food addicition, and I am working on that and trying to avoid triggers that make me want to gobble. Stress and the stress of my kids at times do not help.

I was too thin until I was 27 and them had my last baby and my tubes tied. I got pure chubby and the stress of caring for kids made me just stop thinking of myself. I think we need to think of ourselves and give ourselves the time for personal attention.

So that is my goal, to give myself some personal time and get healthy again. I don't care to be skinny at all, my hubby likes curves,,,,,, but I want to feel good in my clothes again, I want to feel good in my own skin.

I agree with most on this topic, each person's reason for overweight , can come from so many reasons from pyshcological things to , real physical reasons for being overweight.

I am starting walking as of yesterday................... yeahhhhh for me............and it was cold.

*Agrees with Orbiting the Sun, Dr. Phil is scary*

And besides, Dr. Phil is starting to look fat himself. Why is he telling others to lose weight?

Dr. phil is ok-but his answers are pop psychology and WAY too simple. People who have a lot of weight have a disease-not a lack of will power. they are some of the toughest people i know.

I have been normal weight most of my life. 5'5 125. Then there were life changes that slowed down my activity. then my thyroid went out(auto immune hashimots) severe depression,Fibromyligia, and then the real kicker chronic fatigue-i was in bed 3 months-could not get out-fatigue so severe-well u would have just had to have been there. Now i'm overweight.. I could not eat all day and maitain my weight. But i did lose weight last year-and i did it by eating MORE. i have been reading the Zone diet and losing weight has something to do with the insulin levels in your blood. Also, i got the blood type diet book. it makes sense. I think my problem is the food i am eating-ie junk food . I'm not overeating-just eating wrong stuff. And u do have to MOVE some-. I don't move much-so fatigued.

I don't like dr. Phil anymore. And he is sarting to look fat. And he does not like women. I have been watching him carefully-he really sort of dislikes women. he humilated that poor woman he had on the show about her weight. I wanted to SLAP him.

I don't enjoy being overweight and i am getting notheing out of it. I don't eat whole pies.

its not that simple dr. phil -get real

eat more to lose weight. Yep. there ya go

funny stuff. But still, the best diets in the world have resulted in a 98% failure rate.

I suggest talking to morbidly obese people who've lost the weight and kept if off for at least 5 years. They are the only ones who know what they are talking about. The rest is just BS.

I am not morbidly obese, but I am getting there. Since I got married four years ago, I have gained 100 pounds. That's a lot of weight. I'm closing in on 260. I hate the way I am, but find it so hard to initialize a new way of life without ridiculous amounts of work. I eat normally, stay away from sweets, have cut back on beer, and begun excercise of 30 min. of excercise bike per day. It isn't really helping.

My belly just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

My wife thinks it's stress. She just had to go to a seminar for continuing education credits for her job as a health professional, and the person there said that some men pack away the pounds simply because of stress, no matter if they have a healthy lifestyle or not.

It's no fun being this overweight. I am six feet tall, and I am not unattractive for an overweight person, but it is getting uncomfortable with such a large belly on me.

BTW, me entire life has been a struggle with being overweight, and people who are able to initialize a healthy lifestyle to lose weight and keep it off, should. But, I know some people who got the stomach stapled, who were like me, and they are much healthier because of it. At least their hearts wont give out when they're 30.

It's tough...some people claim to have a very good method for healthy lifestyle, and will swear by it, but have no sense of reality, because some of us are born with the propensity to be overweight. It really sucks.

Hopefully keeping on my excercise regimine and reducing stress will eventually yeild fruit.

yes LB, eating more, if u are currently starving yourself. your body shuts down and goes into sort a starvation mode and will hang onto every bit of fat it can. What i did was start eating good food, the rright stuff, about every 4-5 hurs. This keeps your insulin levels level and your body will then start to burn fat.. I swear it works, ask any woman who barely eats and can't lose an ounce.

LB. It's not supposed to be funny, and it's not supposed to be a diet. It's the way the human body was desgined to take in food. The fact of the matter is by eating smaller meals more often during the day, you avoid fat retention. The alternative is.. umm.. stapling your stomach togheter. But Umm.. yeah.. that's not funny right? That's logical to some *rolls eyes*.

If you've met Frankie in person, you know he must know his stuff because he's got a bod that would make any man here envious. But, I thought maybe it was from all that beer, hot wings and computer usage!
