Where I live, you see JWs on the doors at least one every couple of months - young and old. I'm not sure why you don't see any where you are. Maybe all JWs have moved to London???

I can't believe it!!!!!!! I just now came home from running a couple of errands....and LO AND BEHOLD....a group of witnesses from my old congregation were stopped to do an RV across the street from my house!! I recognized who they were, and I stopped right behind them to pick up my mail. (They were parked right by the mailboxes) Then I drove up my driveway and into my garage. They saw me...but didn't do anything. I proceeded to do a few things in my garage and put some stuff away, and I thought I heard the doorbell ring, but by the time I got to look outside, they were already gone. Gee, what a shame! I'm sure they were expecting me to come outside and talk with them....Sorry..ain't gonna happen!!!! And of course....they were doing RV's....no door to door. And of course my neighbor was gone. Sure as hell glad I don't got have to wear a stupid suit and knock on doors anymore!!!!!!

While going home for lunch the other day, I noticed a couple of younger gals out in the ministry. Me thinks to myself, " Haven't seen that very often, must be new move-ins, cuz I don't recognize them." Later that day, as I returned from work, well here they come up my driveway, and me thinks again," Here goes, I'll try to be polite, but direct." As they approach, I notice these young gals have 'nametags', hey, guess what, they're MORMONS. Seems others are still doing the " work ".

Is the internet search what started your trek out of the borg? I wish my JW friend would just 'peek' at the internet re: JWs... but I think they're too chicken.

For at least 6 years I lived in a territory that was assigned to a different congregation than the one I attended (which is probably true for at least 25% of JW's who live in my area). The congregation whose territory I lived in didn't know me from Adam. The only thing I got in all those years was a "Peaceful New World" tract in the mail with the lamest letter I've ever seen written. And I was home on Saturday mornings most of the time, you know, "discouragement" and all.

in fact I rarely see ANY 'hovahs out in service, let alone young ones.in fact I rarely see ANY 'hovahs out in service, let alone young ones.

Just this morning (Saturday) I was passing by the local Hall and I glaced to see how many cars were in the parking lot. Only two cars were there! This was 10:00AM so the group for service had already left but for a congregation of about 100 publishers, there couldn't have been more then, say, 4 or 5 cars there.

Wow! And today it's 45 degrees and sunny. For Chicago weather in December, it's awesome. I guess the local borg drones also thought so and decided to do something else.

I continued to be amazed that: since I walked away 4 years ago I've never been called on, nor has literature been left at my door. My house is not in any way restricted or hard-to-find or any of that either.

I, too have noticed a decrease in seeing Witnesses out on the "big" service day (Saturday). Lately I've seen an increase in "shopping center" and "parking lot" type activity....where I see Witnesses I recognize singly out, apparently trying to do their thing. This type of work was just starting to take hold when I left.

Good points raised in this thread.

So much for "thorough" territory coverage. What a joke. In the congregation I last associated with, the territory coverage figure was around once every 2 months or so. The reality, as set forth in this thread is so different.

    Funny thread, TR.

As a FedEx courier, I'm up and down streets every day. I never see the dubs, either (although a warm smile comes up whenever I *do* see them).

I thought it was just me and where I am. Guess not. As it's been pointed out, today's dubs can't hold a candle to the fire and brimstone warriors that I learned from. Hell... back then THE END WAS COMING! We had to get out there and find those sheep before time ran out.

Sad. Today's JWs are weak imitations.

I saw a father and son team out doing saturday morning door-to-door work last winter. A bright, sunny but cold day here in the 'burbs of Toronto, the well-dressed man with his son of 11 or 12 in his near replica suit and topcoat complete with bookbag lagging a few steps behind, head down, feet dragging in his heavy winter galoshes. A middle aged sister duo were working the opposite side of the street.

As the young boy slogged along behind his Dad, he came up to an easement (a gap between two houses with a sidewalk running through) that provided access to a community park. It was probably the sound of the other children playing that made him stop and look up. From his position on the sidewalk he could look through the easement and see the skating rink, and he stopped to watch the neibourhood boys and girls skating, laughing and having fun. But only for a moment.

"Come along, Timmy." His father had stopped and turned back to call his son away.

As the boy sighed and then pressed on ahead, I do believe I saw that bookbag get a little heavier, the boy's head sag a bit lower and his boots drag just a bit slower.
