All the dubs in the doughnut shops say
Ay oh ay oh, ay oh way oh
Walk like an Egyptian
Well, here is the tally from where I live. In the last ten years, I had my first visit two months ago. When I was out of town and working in Michigan, they were much more active over the 15 years I was there. I had three visits. Now, when I was in Michigan, my wife was in Ohio, so both places were covered and with very few visits.
i'm also in a quiet dallas burb, and no sign of jw on the streets..I have seen them at walmat, and once saw them at parkland hospital with a table set up.Several yrs ago now, i remember at the service meeting them saying that service would have to be more creative and realistic. (ie go when people are home) For a time i was seeing evening witnessing. They also stop in docs offices.
Older jws were very bold. A relative of mine who is quite old tells tales of putting his foot in doors, and having debates at the doors. My grandparents/parents were very active during the ww2 era, with all the presecution. . Actually i remember some of that too in the 60'-70. I actually remember using the bible. However, as the 80's approached, i remember one saturday am deciding to use the bible instead of offering the mag combo. i got told to stick with mags b/c that is what the wts said to do on saturday.
I live in an area that would be considered an easy territory because they can park and just walk through the complex. But I've been home every saturday morning and never seen a sign of them.
In the house I lived in before we moved I was a quiet residential neighborhood and the only time I ever saw them there was the day we were moving out. We were outside packing up the moving truck when I saw a Man in a suit with a little boy in a suit both with book bags. A nice friendly smile and wave from the 'brother' as he walked by and he said 'moving, huh?'. I said yea and tried to look busy cause he looked like he wanted to come over and start a conversation.
But I think ya'll are right, I dont see dubs nearly as much as I used to
They don't know where I live, there's a KH about 1 mile from my house. In 3 years - once we had a tract left in the door. In my travels around this area, Saturdays and weekdays I have never seen a group. So much for ugently preaching the end!
I live in a co-op apartment, so they never get to my door, they'd never get past the doorman! LOL
I used to see them all the time in Grand Central Terminal doing street work... selling offering magazines to commuters who needed something to read.
I have not seen them for months, which is unusual because when it turns COLD here like it has that's where they'd all go to avoid door-to-door.
Ya know, I figure if they're putting in over a billion hours a year, and given the fact that they spend less than 10 minutes at each door, and the fact that there are only 6 billion people on earth, I figure I should be visited at LEAST once a year. So far, my life long total of JW calls in 38 years is....exactly four.
T.R. I hope that the young Hovah's are *getting a life*. Lord knows back in my day, it was shoved down our throats *The end is coming, The end is coming* and field service was pushed at us hard! Maybe the young ones are wising up!!!
