Welcome, Skeptically Yours! I also, appreciate your refreshing style and hope you will continue to post here. Nevermind minimus. He was trying to be funny. Indeed, the double life seems to be the best way to enjoy yourself and still remain within the organization.

Welcome aboard, SY!! Not very many active JW's come here, and of those who do, not all come with an open mind (some come here to try to preach to the ex-JW's). So your style is very much appreciated!

You said you like their theology, in general. Keep reading here and let us know in 3 months or so whether that is still true! You might be surprised. But whatever your viewpoint, you're certainly welcome here.

There's lots of interesting threads here about people's memories about JW life. So you can add a current perspective. Hope to hear more from you.

    Skeptically,

Welcome to the board. As I was reading your experience, it occured to me just how much WE will settle for. As has been demonstrated by many responses, some commend you for a well-done "balancing act". Do we realize that many mental health practitioners would consider such an existence as "conflicted". I am familiar with that way of life, but for my sanity, yes for my pursuit of what I feel to be a real, necessary spiritual connection I, hopefully will never live that way again. Just a thought.

    Again, welcome

I have to agree with Sloboy on this. Leading a double life can be very taxing mentally. I wonder,do you have children? If so,would you want them to grow up watching you balance two worlds?Don't you think that would confuse them?

    Just a thought of concern.

Welcome and hope to hear more.

    Of course you're welcome here!

Everyone has to do what's best for them! For myself, I had to get out, I couldn't live a double life. The way I looked at it, I was a good person, living a good life, just not a j.w. life. Other's had to accept that or get over it! It wasn't a easy thing to do, I lost family and friends in the process, but I had to be true to myself.

    Ms.Jam,

No children yet. Health reasons involved in this issue. I'm sure when/if children come in the picture things will definitely have to change. So far, life seems good as is.

    Take care!
