Pillars in the Congregation

JH: I doubt that most of the pillars in the congregations will ever get wise to the WT's deceptions. Most have spent decades giving their lives to this religion. Even if they knew about some of the WT's inconsistencies and false prophecies they would undoubtedly stick with the "mother" organization. I suspect that more elders,CO's, DO's, etc, know far more about the true history of the WT than they are letting on. They don't want to give up the power, it's too intoxicating.

By the way,JH, I notice you have posted a partial solution to pi. Did you know that some brainiacs figured out pi to 1.24 trillion places? 1.24 trillion places and a mere infinity to go. Hey Simon, is it okay if JH posts the 1.24 trillion places? You have the room, don't you?

I'm not too impressed with these "pillars" in the congregation............I know one sister who likes to act holier-than-thou all the time......I figure it's cause she doesn't want everyone to remember that she got knocked up years ago with a married man with whom she was having an affair.....LOL!!!

She likes to think that the more she goes out in Service and is "active in the ministry", then the holier she gets and pretty soon we can call her the Mother of God........

I find that these "pillars" fall under one or two categories. One is like the sister above. They've either done something really bad in the past, or they're doing it right now. To ease their conscience, they get all spiritual and everyone looks up to them. The others are the weak-minded as far as I'm concerned. They wouldn't know how to live their lives any other way and they need someone to tell them what to do. This, of course, is the perfect religion for that, and these people live their lives accordingly, actually believing every single word off the platform.

Many of us posting here today were regarded once as pillars in their congregation...so much for the jw's description of pillars eh!

I agree with all the others...some are in it for the long haul...not because they are spiritually strong, but because they are comfortable with the jw lifestyle.

    Not me...I'm SO outta there!

I know of 2 people who were once pillars of the congregation and no longer are. I heard that one , who was a pioneer sister ,married to an elder was DF'd. She and her husband use to serve where the need was great and were the golden couple. I'm not sure why she was DF'd but I guess it shocked alot of people. The next pillars were an older couple . He was an elder as well as a pioneer. They were having problems with some of the other elders in this congregation and either he stepped down or they asked him to. It was announced and shortly afterwards they started to go to another congregation. I later heard they weren't going at all.

    So it does happen.
