He got so slippery it made me ill. He was sweating all over the place. He read the part about being careful not to say a greeting......then denied it meant not to say hello. ?! He also read the part from the 1950? WT about detesting such ones and said that was old information. My attorney asked, "well, has the standing of this organization changed since then?" He replied, "no". "So you would still instruct these children to detest their mother." "I didn't say that". "But your organization instructs that." "I can't speak for them" yada yada.............gag

I was ready to stand up and say something. My attorney got so frustrated he sat down and said (loudly) " this guy won't tell the truth anyway". The judge wasn't impressed. After all, the quotes were in print. Loud and clear.

I received affidavits from many countries regarding shunning and minor children being involved. THis is a violation of parental rights. I have filed complaints with local and national ACLU offices. Two months after my first complaint the October magazine cited that jw children must respect the religious beliefs of non-jw parents. hmmmmm.......... I also got a letter from the Justice Dept.

If anyone wants to put the video on the net, they are welcome to it. Then the CO himself will be on an apostate website. I'd kinda' make sure he found that out.

He even refused to read any WT quotes because they might be taken from apostate websites.

    alamb,

I would think any judge worth his pay would see through this. Lawyers in court fighting the WTS, IMHO, should present the quotes which they plan to use in court to the opposing attorney way before trial. Like discovery. The WTS lawyer, at the time of trial, could not claim he didn't have time to verify the quotes were those of the WTS. The "apostate" site would be quite a lame rebuttal, which it is already. WTS literature is wonderful evidence. What are they going to say, "well we said that in our literature, but we changed our mind, lied, didn't mean it, it doesn't mean what it says, etc., etc. LOL

    peace,

    christina

Sorry, this is typical Bergman rhetoric and virtually valueless, it is not "careful analysis" it is an agenda driven polemic.

Boy I couldn't disagree more. The article seemed to be well written and well researched. I'm not familiar with Jerry Bergman, although there seems to be a lot of discussion about him here. I've never really read any of the threads so I can't comment on the "agenda driven polemic" comment.

Hopefully I will never need this article, but thanks Metatron (and Valis) for making us aware.

Thanks all for all the very helpful comments about the theocratic war doctrine! When one sees it used in court it makes one sick! As to the comment "Sorry, this is typical Bergman rhetoric and virtually valueless, it is not "careful analysis" it is an agenda driven polemic" could you explain what you mean and provide documentation??? What is the agenda you refer to? My agenda is to understand and help those involved in the Watchtower. Is this wrong? Should I lie and try to claim that the doctrine does not exist?? Do you think that the doctrine does not exist? How can one deny this doctrine? It is in print cited many times from the 1930s to a few years ago. Check out my 40 page article on Randy's website (http://www.freeminds.org/index.html) and any criticism is welcome as this topic will be a full length book soon, so I need feedback now (no name calling. Such is not helpful, but cogent documented feedback is very helpful).

Jerry, I am delighted that you will be publishing this information in a book. This information needs to be made available to the legal community.

Judging from Alamb's court experience, it would also be very helpful if a "lending library" existed for the legal community containing just those WTS "organization"-type books that the smarmy City Overseer denied the existence of.

    Dear Mr. Bergman,

I am in touch with a reporter in Sydney who I believe would be very interested in your research of the WT re lying to the authorities, that is of course if she already knows about it. Please contact me if interested. Regards.

I'm still sitting on all my books, never sure what to do with them, but this sounds like the perfect "cause" to donate them to. If/when anyone sets up such a lending library for legal purposes and other "apostate theocratic warfare" purposes, let me know which book(s) you need. It would be my pleasure to donate them for "educational" purposes!
