Someone did 'admit' some time ago that leaving a virus infected computer running was somehow a good idea as it would "sort out their true friends".

I have noticed that I get an increase in viruses at certain times and also on other accounts (eg. non JW email receives viruses from JW accounts). The chances of this just happening are pretty remote I think so I can only assume someone does it on purpose. It typically increases when certain people are having a grumble.

I still intend to introduce a private messaging service here so that people do not expose their emails and can be confident that messages do come from the forum person it says.

In the meantime ... be careful and make sure you have uptodate virus scanning s'ware (you should do this anyway) and be cautious of opening attachments.

    That Sucks!!

People who create viruses should have thier fingers smashed with a hammer one at a time.

I've had many virus attempts since joining this forum. If your e-mail address is listed here, it's easy to harvest with an e-mail harvesting program. I've never infected, because I never excute anything sent to me in e-mail, and also I don't use microsoft lookout.

    Robyn,

I receive about 2-3 virus emails a week to my hotmail account. They are usually from fake email addresses. I get them so frequently I automatically delete them without looking too much at who sent them. I have virus-protection software too.

I hope that the virus emails you are getting are of the automatic kind, and not someone trying to get to you. ((((Robyn))))

Being specifically targeted by viruses/trojans etc is extremely rare. Try not to be so paranoid. *remembers fondly his first firewall and the mild panic at all the port scans* :D

    Robyn,

I know what you mean about getting email with viruses. But, as long as you have something like Norton, you would be protected from them

The most recent one that came through to me indicated it was from "Simon" and the subject was "Honey" with an attachment. I knew it wasn't him and deleted it right away!

I will look forward to getting your new email!
