I mean, why does he do it? For financial reward - I doubt it! The odd fiver every now and again...Means nothing!

He's got a (real) job and two kids. Plus a wife (but I didn't want to be patronising).

I would probably have exploded over all you by now if I was the respondent of his recent messages.

    Spanner,

    Which responses are those?

Now that you bring it up though, Simon is indeed one of my heros...and I don't have many. Simon's patience and devotion to this site can come only from the largeness of his heart, or the compulsion of his addiction.

    THANKS SIMON!!!

Actually, I should answer this properly.

    Why do I do it?

Well, I remember what it's like leaving the WTS and loosing practically all friends and family and feeling very alone. At the time, the forums available were either very pro-Witness where you could not discuss things or else were real battlegronuds and not really geared up for social stuff. I thought somewhere a bit in the middle would be useful.

I do get emails from people who say the site has helped them and this really does make it all worthwhile. The recent post by CHEVYNSTATS about finding their long lost friend is another example of the sort of thing where is does positive things and there are others too.

Yes, it's hard work ... I typically spend a couple of hours in the morning and a couple at night or more and it costs money too even though some people kindly send donations which helps to take the edge off the expense.

I must admit too that I am a techie and their is a certain pride in running a busy site and 'building something' but it isn't really the main reason.

While it's still helping people then I hope I will be able to continue it and will continue to stop anyone trying to ruin it, however difficult this can be at times.

I often wonder and ask him that myself Spanner.

But I agree the nice things that Simon mentioned make it worth putting up with all the crap.

He could do it to be able to *safely* say to the wifey........."I'm really busy helping people & I'll fix the faucet real sooooooon."

I think Simon fell into it. From a little cafe' to a huge open air market selling just about everything. Just about.

Simon's generosity made my leaving the WT a LOT easier. The countless hours I've spent here over several years has helped me to become more level-headed in several different areas of my life.

Thank you kindly, Simon and Ang.

ps: stupidity might still have a bearing on Simon's actions though.

I don't care why Simon manages this forum, I just like it.

Although, this Jedi thing is going to take me about 5 years to get there at the rate that I am posting.

IMO, It is obviously a labor of love for Simon. Love of techno and love for the xJWs that may need a place to recover from their abuse while in the Tower.

Simon, for whatever reasons you do this job, I want to thank you, Angharad and the mods.
