my advice is simple- take a break from all religion- give yourself time to reflect, consider and then move forward, if you then desire to become involved in religion, bible/koran whatever, you will be in a much better frame of mind

in my exp in the last 7yrs on the net, almost every former jw who leaves wt today and joins another religion tomarrow end up being disappointed

i look at it like a marriage most folk realize that if you have been in a long term relationship with someone you loved and you did everything possible to make them happy , you did anything they asked of you, you were as loyal as a hound dog in KY. and then they destroyed the relationship by lying to you, fornicating with someone else and then blamed you for it- it would leave most folks NUMB-

and that is what it is like coming out of a long term relationship with wt, WE GAVE THEM OUR LIFE and they have proved to be unfaithful to us, WE DID NOTHING WRONG and yet we are blamed- well most of us feel numb, dazed, at a lost like what THE HELL is going on-

so to turn around after realizing that they will never be honest never be faithful- we leave and now to jump up and try to start a new relationship with a new religion in my veiw is like REBOUNDING

since we found out the world ain't going to end next week, why not give yourself sometime and then go forward

for my wife and i taking a break from religion in general instead of trying to find another religion has been the best thing for us-

time heals many things- give yourself time to regroup

I agree with JT 100%. That worked the best for me. I took a long break from everything even remotely religious. Then, I went to some churches to observe. Today, I don't go to church, per se...but my boyfriend and I found a little independent church close to our summer place up north where they have a Bible sudy. No doctrine or dogma is discussed. We just read a passage and each person is free to comment on what it means to them (without fear of being criticized by others present, I might add!).

As for me, I found that I don't need to be in a religion or go to a church in order to be a spiritual person.

I wanted to thank all of you, nightwarrior, Analysis, Kingpawn, mouthy, TR, JT, and Banshee for taking the time to give me advice on where to go from here.

This started out as nightwarriors thread and turned into an advice for column for me.

I spent so long as a JW I have never thought of myself going anywhere else but at the same time I love God and The Christ. So when I find what I believed for so many years was right is actually not.this became a dilemma.

I love what mouthy shared about herself when she said, I have a relationship with God..... I am so happy I am not under man made rules.

I think that is very important for me to build. As A JW your relationship with what The Society Teaches. Not with The Creator Himself. Teachings can be good in any faith or even philosophical school, but this is cold and impersonal.

JT brought out how we were in a marriage relationship with our Religion. As members in this marriage we were faithful and they were dishonorable. Treating us badly blaming us"leaving us feeling numb, dazed, at a lost like what THE HELL is going on"

As he pointed out and I feel he is correct in saying choosing another RELIGION now would be like being on the rebound. He brought out about himself, taking a break from religion in general instead of trying to find another religion has been the best thing,

Banshee agreeing 100% with JT and showing after time she was able to move on , Today, I don't go to church, per se...but my boyfriend and I found a little independent church close to our summer place up north where they have a Bible study. This showed me how there is hope I could and would heal enough to be able to gather with others in worship to Our Creator. Something that has been important to me since childhood.

Thank- you all very much!! You have no idea how much you have helped me.

Oh, and nightwarrior! You are a very caring and loving person!

I think your idea to make a worldwide brotherhood is very wonderful! Something all should consider as long as it doesnt involve a Corporation!

    Agape,

    Utopian_Raindrops....for everyone....

It is a trap...........to feel you must replace one religion with another. People have such a difficult time seperating God from religion. Most man-made religions make themselves mediators between God and you. Yet, that is the furthest thing from the truth. Your only mediator is Jesus. The only one who forgives you of your past sins and future ones is Jesus. The only one that gives you everlasting life is Jesus. THERE IS NO GO BETWEEN.

There is no works, or good deeds or way to dress, or religion to belong to that will save you. It is just a personal relationship with Jesus. It means being friends with him. As witnesses we knew all "about" Jesus but never knew him personally. That is a big difference.

Satan has cunningly put all these religions out there to take the focus off of Jesus. He puts it back on man. The purpose of religion is to support, encourage and help teach those who love God.

IF ANY RELIGION CLAIMS YOU MUST BELONG TO THEM TO BE SAVED..........LEAVE!! They are playing the role of Jesus.

Pray to God to help you out.........and then read the book of John. Just read it like a good book. Get to know the main character Jesus. Read it fresh and read it without the Watchtower glasses on. You will be so happy and amazed!!

    God bless, gold morning

We have been discussing the same thing here. Wondering if we should go to a church or what? This thread has been interesting. I think JT's advice to take time out for a while is a good idea. I think we will probably take the advice. Thanks
