    Another photo of the gate.

A shot from inside the city.

Some of the bricks of the ancient ruins still carry the embossed message of King Nebuchadnezzar. The message reads, "I am Nebuchadnezzar, the king of the world"

The hand is pointing to a new set of inscription on the new bricks, it reads...
"In the era of President Saddam Hussein all Babylon was constructed in three stages. From Nebuchadnezzar to Saddam Hussein, Babylon is rising again."

As usual, "Uncle" Saddam loves his face plastered everywhere that he rules over and this one is no exception. Ugh!

The foundations continue to rise above the vast river plain. The unfinished buildings in the foreground testify to the immensity and scale of the development.

This place is going to be huge when it's all completed. It is my understanding that this place may be the home for the anti-christ one day.

Well you sure have done some research Yiz --- To much "knowledge" for me to swallow.

I stopped taking in "knowledge" when I got to KNOW Christ. But thanks the pictures I did enjoy- your a very clever guy.....

The good commandment was given a long time ago - love God - do not make for yourselves the likeness of a beast instead.

So why do people still choose to labour at appeasing their imaginary beast - and even worship their chosen "image of a beast" ?

Do jws have such little faith in the goodness of God that they prefer the attempted appeasing of some imaginary beast ?

Roman Caesars did demand a type of worship. And this State Religion was a powerful unifying force permeating all aspects of daily life. It fits my earlier posting. Why does a rational approach to literary interpretation feel appropriate when analyzing books of other religions but dismissed as deviant when applied to the Bible?

Wow Yiz, great info. Did you get any of this from a site I could visit? What is the title of the book you mentioned? I'd heard the claim that SH was trying to rebuild Babylon, but never had seen any info on it. This intrigues me.

Also, concerning the antichrist. JWs teach that the Bible says there is more than one antichrists. Can anyone explain??

    Thanks

You could hit Google and type "rebuilding of Babylon" or something close to it, or try "Pictures of Babylon", etc. There's a lot of sites that talks about the city. I've read some websites coming directly from Iraq that boasts about the city.

As for the book, I don't remember the title, it was a long time ago either before or during or after the gulf war. I think the title was something like "Is Saddam Hussen the Anti-Christ?". I knew he's not because I recall reading from scripture the anti-christ will remain unknown until a certain appointed time. It makes sense to me because for his safety, he will keep a 100% low profile until the time is right to appear, which IMHO will be after the Rapture.

The reason I am saying safety is because if he appeared before the Rapture and Christians who are still on this world figures him out, they could try and kill him thinking they could prevent the Tribulation from happening (of course we know it still will happen), I'm just speculating on this, but it seems to make sense to me.

Anyway, in the book I saw pictures of the rebuilding of Babylon and one particular photo that threw me for a loop was a photo (which I am still trying to find) is a gold plaque on the wall that credits Saddam Hussen for the rebuilding of Babylon alongside with an image of him. After looking at the photos, I knew this was it. It scared the crap out of me back then. Saddam is funding billions of dollars into the project and since there's a information blackout, we don't know how much of the city is already completed or if it is already done.

Also, concerning the antichrist. JWs teach that the Bible says there is more than one antichrists. Can anyone explain??

There isn't more than one, there's only one anti-christ. A lot of men that came and went over the years was thought to be the anti-christ, like Hitler for example. But Hitler never fulfilled scripture that the AC will rule over the entire planet, in which case, Hitler never achieved it, despite of the odd coincidence(s?) that he was in power for 7 years and the attempted assassionation of Hitler during the middle of his reign.

Pretty much everything that the JWs taught about Revelations as well as Daniel and Eziekal are all wrong. Try reading the bible without the Watchtower and you may find it will tell you very differently.

Right-wing fundementalist interpretation of scripture have shaped U.S. middle east policy for 40 years. All this recent excitement about "Babylon" as portrayed on televangelist programs have contributed to the blinding nationalism again arising in America. A lack of critical thinking skills is not just sad it is deadly dangerous. The most powerful militery in history is about to slaughter an unarmed (albeit backward) nation. This is not a war this is butchery. And while it is certainly true that oil remains the primary obective, Christian religious zealotry has fueled the cause by it's stupor inducing spin on verses pulled from their historical context.
