If nothing else it was an interesting part!
A lot of emphasis was put on the "accurate" reporting. However, the only scripture that was read in the entire part was the one from Acts were "about 3,000" were baptised.
If the early Christians had have had the same mentality, Paul's writings especially would have been full of statistics and figures - "And in Corinth, we had 143 at the special talk I gave. 23 were batized, 13 sisters and 10 brothers". Perhaps the early Christians cared more about people than figures.
