This has been around since I came into this whole mess, I was shunned when I had just had my son and didn't want to subject and toddler and infant to service in the boondocks in Missouri.

I guess the worst is the SALEM, NH congregation

    Joanna said:

This doesn't really seem like new information. I've heard this lots of times when I was a dub. Which is why I had very few dub friends. I didn't put in enough field service hours and participated in afterschool activities...I was on the path to apostate why back then I guess...meanwhile all the good little boys and girls who put in their time, got to hang out together and smoke pot and have sex. *sigh* Too bad I was such an unspiritual nerd.

The part about putting in time and then smoking pot and having sex really hits home. Lately, my kid is getting virtually shunned by local jws because our involvement has lessened considerably. They don't even chat with her on IM, or they do so in a terse manner that shows that they do not want to chat with her. However, the jdub kids who are showing thier faces at the meetings are involved in the stuff that Joanna mentions. But hey, they hide it and they appear so "spritual", while in reality they are a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites.

It sounds like the Kingdom Governing Body (KGB) is trying to rally the troops for one last stand.

The Society have been worried for a long time about bad influences within the congregation, especially from the young. It appears that the problem of youths living double lives has come to the attention of the leaders. And its not just being passed on verbally by the elders.

The February 15 th 2003 Watchtower, on page 26, has this to say:

Surprisingly, some difficult trials young ones face may come from within the congregation.

Although your teenage child appears to be in good spiritual health, inside he may be struggling with a divided heart. For instance, Megan faced worldly ideas stemming from other youths who came to the kingdom Hall:

"I came under the influence of a group of young ones who saw Christianity as boring and as an obstacle to having fun. They said things like: 'The minute I am 18, I will leave the truth', or 'I can't wait to get out'. They shunned young ones who said anything to the contrary, calling them holy ones." ( anyone spot the hypocrisy here? dm)

It takes only one or two with a bad attitude to egg on the rest...In many countries, there have been sad cases of Christian youths getting into trouble because they followed the crowd. (Presumably not the Great Crowd! dm)

This article is also full of those irritating catchphrases spoken about in another thread: 'young ones' 'worldly ideas' 'the truth'

This article is a very powerful mind control exercise targeting parents unable to think for themselves, who will now do the Society's dirty work of watching their children's behavior.

    Scary huh?

If someone misses a lot of meetings, rarely goes out in field service and is not the best example, we should not want to associate with such ones.

Now of course if someone else makes all the meetings, gets 10 hours of service a month and makes his little comments, BUT rapes children on the side then he is considered great association! It's nice to see they have their priorities straight.

There are a few "classes" that we could find ourselves in. One could be the exemplary "class". That's the best "class" that you could be in. Then there's the "good standing class". That's not bad, either. Then there's the "I wouldn't let me or my kids associate with them, class". This, I think is the "class" that the elders were talking about. Anybody know about this "class"? ......Minimus, from the "no class".

It seems to me that the "exemplary Witness" is too busy in field service to associate with anybody else...it seems to me the exemplary witness has just enough time to have a love affair with that weekly magazine. THAT is the god that exemplary witnesses are to bow to.

Does it ever occur to these dunderheads that if any of these so-called `weak" and ``unwholesome'' asoociates among them are ignored or informally shunned. are to be uplifted from their present condition, it can only come from the outreach of an unselfish, caring person who takes a loving interest? But no, in a manner similar to the narciissistic types at the local gym whose sole preoccuptation is the state of their own muscular development, the spiritual giants are encouraged to give the laggards the back of their hand, and to proceed with their own ``spiritual progress."

So, instead of the local Kingdom Hall being a spiritual oasis, where one might let down his/her guard, secure in the knowledge that all present ae his/trusting, caring brothers and sisters, we've got to be wary even there. This smacks of ``eyes-in-the-back-of-one's-head" paranoia to me.
