I ran into two old Witness friends this weekend - and it's the same old story.

Sister A belongs to a huge family 'in the truth'. Nearly all the kids in the
extended Witness family are gone or df'd. The grandparents loyally shun them all.
She has no confidence whatsoever in the corrupt elders locally - who lie, cover-up
and df whoever they want with impunity. After being deeply involved, she has nearly
given up - and only occasionally attends and usually returns home in tears.
At least she had the good sense to avoid baptism for some of her kids - who now
can't be df'd. My mother used to say that the end must be close because another
Witness generation couldn't be 'raised in the truth'. She was half right, I guess.

Brother B's marriage fell apart after years of secret cheating by Sister B. Custody
battles absorb all of his time and money. The local elders are predatory and uncaring,
selling insurance and investments to the flock for their own profit.

These poor people are just the latest victims of bad Watchtower fruitage.

How so? Years of shunning - years of judging - years of conditional love and
legalism - years of emphasis on dead works like an imaginary 'ministry' and pointless
meetings INSTEAD OF EMPHASIS ON COMPASSION AND HONESTY - Years of appointing men
who have no love for the sheeple - Years of emphasizing Armageddon slaughter.

Don't worry about the Watchtower's claimed successes and puffed up numbers. Under
neath, it's all decaying into anomie and quiet despair. Like a malignancy that kills
its host - and itself - they won't avoid self destruction and disgrace.

But I do feel sorry for the poor victims caught up in their vortex.

For me, it's more than 'feeling sorry' for the people caught up in it all. I have some genuine FEAR, for my family if/when the day comes that they can't ignore the cancer anymore. I'd like to think they can come to terms with it like I have, but I have no doubt that when the shite comes down, people will kill themselves rather than face reality.

Hybridous, I agree with you, mom has been in the "Troof" for 50plus years...and she expresses actual fear in leaving the JW's, she acts as if she's going to suddenly stop breathing or something, they have a powerful hold on their older generation, who bought in to the "why go to college, when Armageddon is so near" routine that now they're are trapped by the very insecurity WT sublimenaly deviced over the decades and lack of faith that the true message of Jesus had nothing to to with WT's twisted interpretation, nor do you need the JW's system of belief to benefit from Jesus' promised coming of God's kingdom. It will be rough on many truly sincere JW's, when they realized the truly unstable spot they find themselves in....I will have to be strong for mom...rocky220

as usual you are very unfair, when it comes to judge others.

I dont think anyone belive you when you say how bad all elders are, i have been one fore myself over 20 year, and I can tell you that it is not easy try to help peopel wih problems, it is very easy to hurt some even if you try to be very kind, i think most elder try the best they can, and this is a work fore free, no money comapred to other religions, who have preists how earn a lot of money.

Surtenly ther some ashols, but you have that wher you go, to say evryone is so bad is not to be faire, and i think you now that M, dont you?

You do not live in The U.S.A....here many elders are corrupt and unloving. Out for themselves and their own familys salvation.

For instance the cong we attend now has several very poor families with no help. It has 2 single mom's with no homes of their own...just sleeping at this relatives or the others. Both single moms could have been helped by the way,before they lost their homes.

I know of a sister who's house burnt down and NO HELP was afforded to her family in cleaning or lodging and yet when an elders family had a small fire there is help galore!

In another cong I know of single moms still without help that could use it badly ....and of 3 pedephiles UNREPORTED and have abused other children again and again who attend there. Also, this KH's kids and wives of elders gossip and put down others over and over again with no correction.

I know of people who were repentant and dissed and I know of people who did NOTHING wrong save look at an elder cross-eyed dissed.

I can go on and on Happyman and I do find this a sad state of affairs. I loved being a JW but it has worn me out. As a JW you are persecuted INSIDE as well as outside your religion. I don't know how much more I can stand and my children's self esteem is way low because of our time spent there.

I think as the euro spreads and more materialism becomes a way of life in Europe you too will also see corruption of your flocks and the GREED of The WTBS itself.

We get talk after talk about how we need to support the work with our unclean things. Meaning MONEY. This is true but The WTBS has a portfolio for heavens sake and investments. They have moneymaking scams here like charging The Friends parking when not necessary at Conventions. This was done more then just in Florida. I know because the 1 st time this past summer we had no parking fee at a place we were told year after year REQUIRED one.Could be they were afraid we heard of the Florida parking scandle?

Happyman as Europe becomes more prosperous please watch and be careful. If things even hint to look as they are here in The U.S.A ....runget out of therebefore they eat you alive too.

Analysis

I agree that the state within the local Congregations are not what it used to be 15 or 20 years ago. But, I do not think it is really worse then the local populations, as some tend to experience. I guess it is just where you live. My area is rather wealthy and even JWs are more educated and "White Collar," so maybe that is why it is different.

metatron points "Like a malignancy that kills its host - and itself - they won't avoid self destruction and disgrace" are still valid. But, I do not think I will see the fall in my lifetime. But, the life of the normal JW is not what is was in the 50s and 60s.

I agree with the point that the Jdubs have changed since I was young. I find that on a whole most are not as loving and caring for others in the congregation. As far as the Watchtower they must be feeling the heat with lower membership and contributions. The other day my mom mentioned about her sister's congregation is selling their KH and moving into another one close by. The explanation given was that they felt they need the cash flow right now.

thank you fore your kind words, I must say I am sorry to here your expirienses.

When i read many expirienses from US I understand it is diffrent ther, when I was ther 69, 73, i was very impressed of the hospitality, we hade, and I then think this is much better than in Sweden.

We sweed peopel are noned as cold , and booring.

When it comes to money, we as i think you now, dont have a system of helping ecach other widh money, here in Sweden we have wellfare how is good, fore almost evryone, i understand it is diffrent in US.

When times get harder ofcourse we are tuched by that, so I think it is very important that we show our compasion, to aspecial this you told about, how have difficult times and are in some way hurt by the system, even in the truth.

You can do things youself, dont wait others to do things, take peopel home on dinner fore exampel, things like this are wery important fore evryone, not only the elders.

PS. quite as an elder 2 years ago, surprised?
