Just my 2 cents(.00000000000063)cents US. I think that the amount of time it takes to detoxify from something as traumatic as exiting a cult, is equal to the length and severity of the indoctrination one has gone through. I know for myself, I was raised by witness fanatics. I was grounded to my room any saturday that I didnt go out in service. After three day assemblies, I wasnt allowed to go out with the other witness kids, instead I was told by my dad that I had to go and "ponder" on the things I learned for the last three days. I could go on and on, but indeed the indoctrination in my case and Im sure many others here was extreme to say the least. I must also add that everyone here has to at some time say that sufficient healing has taken place, and "Must" move on from here. If not we have exchanged our religious addiction for another sort of addiction, which in essance is no healing at all. Best of luck to everyone.

I definitely do not belittle those who have been out for decades and still are involved in JW related discussions. Every person must deal with the trauma of the WT in their own way. I guess my point is that, as long as we are discussing it on a regular basis, we are not really "free" of it. For me personally, I know the day will come (like I mentioned earlier) that I will be truly "free". When that time comes, I will never speak of this again.

I wonder though, if there are some deep seated resentment issues that some (maybe myself included) need to deal with. No one can argue as to why there would be resentment. Only a fool would not understand the causes. But I can't help but wonder if re-hashing the same old issues (1914, 607, 1925, blood, UN etc) is helping us "old-timers". I seldom read those posts since, frankly, I find them quite boring. Maybe some need re-assurance that they did the right thing in leaving the JW's?? I don't.

Stan, I don't doubt your motives at all. You raise a very important point. But also try to understand that not everyone is here obsessively, here you may notice I replied to this post consistently but was, in fact, doing something else on the net a thousand miles away.

    Hi Geddy,

Ya, your situation was unique. Your dad was (still is??) quite fanatical about the whole JW thing. It's amazing you survived!! I'll never forget the time they went on vacation and didn't allow you to go. Instead they locked you out of the house to survive on the street! Great example for other JW parents!! (no offense intended!)

How's that blue bottle doing? Killed it yet?

    Hi Ballistic,

I suppose most people aren't hanging around waiting for the next post. Personally, I'm involved in code writing for a CAD program in Visual Basic, and that is why I'm on the computer. I, too, just stop by to check up on things between other duties.

Hi Stan, No havent touched the blue bottle yet. I m up here in Toronto and have been for the last couple of days. The spits have been on a road trip through eastern ontario, and thought it would be a great way to see some road games on the company. Did you get my email about vanmasterflogger? I had a chance to thank him the other day for him along with hood, and gibson for being responsible for opening my eyes. Hey we should be getting together soon to toast the young fellas engagment, what do you think?

    Hi Geddy,

    Yes, I got that e-mail.

He's officially engaged? I knew it was coming, but I haven't talked to him since he was over for ham on Xmas eve. Did they set a date? We definitely need to get together. I should bring the little guy over so you can see him walking. He's pretty confident now, only falls on his butt occasionally.

    Stan
