    Interesting stuff so far!

My take is that it would need to be something that would push several buttons at once. Obviously sex, demons, blood and apostasy is what get's 'em going best, it's just coming up with something that is believeable.

The GB has done additional research with regard to pagan symbols, and in an attempt to purge the organization of any taint of paganism, all weddings are now cancelled. There will be no more wedding rings, gowns, bridal parties, flowers, cake, receptions, or honeymoons.

All JWs will now be required to go with an elder to the local City Hall and have a combined ceremony at that time. Only clothing that would be appropriate for a meeting at the Kingdom Hall will be allowed. The happy couple WILL be allowed, however, to grab a quick coffee and celebratory doughnut after the ceremony.

One that I had been told and believed was that the glue on stamps and envelopes contained blood by products. That month we all went out and bought little sponges to use when sending out bills and letters.

A review of the New Testement shows that women should have their heads covered, so all Witness women must now wear Burkkas jes' like Muslim women.

Also, in order not to stumble ANYONE, all brothers MUST be circumcized............doesn't matter how old you are.

I find when I tell JW's things from there own publications at first they think it is total rubbish an URBAN legend if you will, and here is a good example my last QUOTES post regarding there medical doctrins that they published!

Here is a funny E-mail I received just after:

I've been a witness for years and have never heard any of the things you came up with on this website. I've never been discouraged from any medical procedure. I think you found someone's ludicrous ideas of Jehovah's witnesses. I really hope you don't actually believe the garbage this website published about the watchtower.

    Dannyboy,

I like your idea of the "obesity rumor" the best! I think that is quite plausible. I even have heard, while I was jw prior to 1999, different brothers and sisters discuss the problem of obesity and what may or may not be done about it. They were seriously thinking that some "rules" around eating may need to be put in place to control the problem. Yup. . . more jw rules! . . . I figure they would believe it in a heartbeat!!!

Lay down some more damn rules!!! . . . Dang!!! Tooooooo funny!!!

I like the coffee/tea one. Lump caffeine and nicotine together as druggery and spiritistic practice. That means cola products are out too. Oooohh! That would be a mean one. I know many dubs, especially pioneers, who would never make it without their coffee!

They could say it was new light (maybe from the book of Mormon. hee hee).

    Estee,

New Light article in Watchtower Study Article: "Maintain God-Honoring Weight In The Time of the End"...., with an inset box that relates how a young sister from the Midwest lost a bunch of weight when she realized how God-Dishonoring her weight was.......another inset box could have helpful hints for the congregation to help those who were struggling with their weight....

Or, excerpt from letter to Elders: "....So then, beginning in September of 2003 the Body of Elders in each congregation will meet to review the weight of each baptized and unbaptized publisher. Those individuals not meeting the guideline weight should be approached by two assigned elders who will kindly explain to the erring one that six months are being allowed for them to adjust their weight. Of course, if any exceptional circumstances arise in connection with this direction from the Society, the elders should promptly write to the Society...."

    Dannyboy,

What scripture(s) would support this? Dunno where it is found, but one comes to mind, "Whether eating or drinking, . . . do all things for God's glory. . ."

How's that? Ready for publication yet?

    Estee,

    What scripture(s) would support this?

Scriptures? They "don't need no stinkin' scriptures" to support their ad naseum rules and regulations....

But, yes, I get your point.....actually, same line of "thinking" that's behind the Watchtower ban on use of tobacco, have to keep our bodies clean and well-kept in keeping with our dedication, etc. etc.

Then, too, they could employ typical Watchtower reasoning and emphasize the bad example of fat, overweight King Eglon who had to be slain [by righteous Ehud, the fat-person hater....] 'cause he was so big. So overweight, in fact, that the assassin's sword got swallowed up inside him!! Watchtower: "Surely none of us would want to be like that!!!" (Judges 3)

Further Watchtower research reveals that Noah's getting drunk and "exposing" himself was not merely because he had too much to drink, but primarily because he was so overweight.

    I think this could work...
