I've had the chance this last couple of weeks to participate in a few threads about topics that evoked strong convictions.

I'd just like to say, it's a distinct pleasure to be able to debate these subjects openly. With one or two exceptions, it was without abusive or derogatory responses. The exact opposite of what I got, or would ever expect to get, in the WTS.

I'm not trying to start a "popularity" thread here, just to say that this forum is a big breath of fresh air.

I think what we have here is more a mature crowd who usually know when to pull a leg or two but occassionally I think some young folk with alot of anger and no understanding show up is when things get a little fubar around here.

Hey Craig what the *#@! do you know you no good #@!*&?! (sorry couldn't resist)

Actually I agree. I believe that, for the most part, what you send out you receive back. So if you are respectful towards people, then generally you'll get it back from them. And that's been true for me. There's been a couple of times things got crossways, but that's life.

I don't know why some get all excited about stuff. We should relax and have fun.

For me, it is interesting to hear others viewpoints. Some I agree with, others I don't. However, I can learn from others thoughts, and I like that.

    A couple of examples:

I totally spaced it in a discussion on Isaiah, and peacefulpete was really cool in his response.

And how about this one from http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=43480&site=3&page=5

    Hi Earnest,

Thanks for your answers. As usual they're full of information, and I'm learning from them.

This is the kind of mutually respectful treatment that keeps minds open, eh?

It IS nice to see folks with opposing views take it easy with each other, although Lord knows everyone slips up now and again.

However, I really do understand the cold fury of someone fresh out of the org who has just lost his wife, children, friends, etc. to the mindless dictates of a dozen senile octagenerians in Broklynn. I'm in favor of letting 'em vent 'till it's gone.

    Just MHO.

I find it fascinating that some here who come out of the Dubs then proceed to use the same tactics on this forum that drove them out in the first place.

I agree... This is a forum to debate issuses and "brainstorm" on certain topics and other not so serious ones. But I've seen people taking opinions in an extremely personal way... as if you were insulting them directly in some way when all you were doing was just wanting to express your opinion on the subject.

Thank god there's now a new forum outside this site for some of those "bad apples"

(I hope I don't get bashed now for posting this)

    Excuse me -

Thank god there's now a new forum outside this site for some of those "bad apples"

Simon has said no references to the "other place" or "those bad apples" - as there are some very nice people there - just a little more out spoken.- so my post can be editted at the appropriate time as well.
