On the US side....I quite like Jackass! The Simpsons is a classic. The Osbournes.....are so good......(even though they may not realise). Friends is a classic also.

There is some good stuff on both sides of the pond.

I hope nobody will throw anything at me, but I never really cared for British humor. That doesn;t mean I'm saying it's not good, but it's just not my cup of tea. But, my husband and I went to a comedy club the other night and the opening act got on JW's. He was talking about them going door to door and said the other day a couple of them came knocking. They told him "do you know that God doesn't answer all prayer" He replied "that's for sure, you still found my house" I laughed so hard, and then I thought of you guys here, and thought you might appreciate that.

I'm interested to see the way some UK shows have been taken to the US and have been successful. Two I can think of off the top of my head are Whose Line is it Anyway? and Antiques Roadshow.

Of course there are the US shows "inspired" by UK shows like All in the Family, Sanford and Son and Three's Company - IMO not as successful...

My number one vote is: Australia's own 'Comedy Company'

    Dolly did it!

Sabado Gigante is hilarious, though. you can't beat a show where the audience spontaneously bursts into song. and the costumes! i think this show spawned the Bee Man from The Simpsons. aye carumba

Naw, the Bee Man from the Simpson's was inspired by El Chapulin Colorado:

Has anyone seen "Smack the poney"? THAT is hilarious! French & Saunders doing the movie scetches is also funny. Have I got news for you used to be hilarious too.

The USA produced "Top Secret" and that is one of the funniest films I have seen, bit dated now though.

Has anyone ever seen the film "The Gods must be crazy?" I think its set in Africa... I watched that a dozen or more times.

Naturally the Brits win hands down.

Don't know any good comedy shows from Oz???? Where've you been??

There are many on ABC TV (the equivalent of the BBC). In recent times "Mother and Son" has been the 'stand out' for me.

Which is the world's best? Depends on your sense of humour, I know, but I believe the Brits have it in the bag. An easy victory IMHO.

My favourites are Ab Fab, Keeping Up Appearances, The Royle Family and Birds of a Feather. Mrs Ozzie and I woouldn't miss 'em!

    Cheers, Ozzie
