Peace? Bosnia and Kosovo are peace? Yep, the EU handled those situations REAL WELL. Thanks for making another point for me.

LOL !!!!
YERU,
i was talking about the members of the EU! no war between france, germany and england etc. in almost 60 years...longest peace period ever.
and that the EU was not able to handle th situation in yugoslavia is the best reason to make the EU stronger!
Crazy,
nobody wants the US to do anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because what you do is not in the interest of peace and freedom but only in the interest of the US industry!
if you want to conquer iraq's oil or eliminate any rival countries than do it yourself and don't cry if the others don't support you.

if you think that more powers be given to this centralised autocratic shambles of an EU by member states is a good thing, then i'm with crazy and yeru on this one.
because hitler didnt set up his version of th EU, then our very own politicians sold us down the river and brought in their version of the EU by stealth.
just read about edward heath the ex-primeminister of GB, and how he lied to the british public as to what the EEC would be.

The peace in between France, Germany, Italy, and England was a direct support of the US WAR effort and the Marshall Plan that followed. Without that, Europe would still be a shambles.
The EU countries have more than enough military might to handle Yugoslavia, THEY CHOOSE NOT TO, avoiding the situation and setting Europe up once again. The US was FORCED to step in to stabalize the whole continent.

yeru,
i think you just want to disagree no matter what. nothing of what you said is of relevance to the topic at hand.
of course it was the second world war that finally convinced the europeans to start to work together instead of going to war all the time. it was the will of the european leaders (especially the french and germans) after WWII that made this peace process possible.
of course europe has enough military power to win against yugoslavia. the problem was however that the european states had different opinions about the situation. the french sided with the serbs the germans with the bosnians and croatia.
europe is not as united as it should be...but working together instead of against each other is the only solution.
PS: the marshall plan (merely 20 billion $ by the way...helped germany to rebuild...this support was not a selfless act by the US but helped to ensure that not all of europe was taken over by communism...which would of course have been strongly against US interests)
Pleasuredome,
europe will be weak as long as it doesn't give more rights to a central government. there are many difficulties to overcome but a central government which does represent the interests of all member states is a dream that hopefully will come true at some point.
i don't understand the british position...what is it that they fear so much? nobody is forcing them...if they don't want to be part of europe than they don't have to be. interestingly britain always tried to stay outside...only to realize later that it was a mistake and that they should rather join as soon as possible. just look at the Euro now...it hurt the british industry a great deal that they didn't join.

More rights to a central Government??? Are you nuts!!!!
Talk about 1984!! Shit Orwell was right! We already have the Americans and the British together and now we have Europa!! China will take over and become Urasia and then we can all go to war against each other!!! GREAT...........
