Can I ask you a dumb question? What exactly do you mean by cataloging your books at home? What would you do with uch a catalogue once you had it?
I guess you'd have to know me a bit better to understand "why" I did it. LOL However, I've always had a "thing" for organizing stuff, making lists, statistics, scheduling etc. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's a pain in the derriere. They do say that people who - like me - have a compulsion to keep everything organized and in order are really messed up on the inside. Having said that, I'm a lot less concerned about those kinds of things now, than when I was a dub.
What I did with the books we had in our personal library was to organize them the way a real library would. With little stickers on the spine with the code letters and publication year. I kept a list (catalogue) of which books we had, which was handy if for example you went to a used book store or garage sale and found an old (and undemonized - ha!) relic WTS publication (which I've done a few times) and wanted to know if you had that version or a revision etc. Our book shelves were organized according to the year of publication, with pocket sized books, regular books, bound volumes each designated to specific shelves. It was a weird way for me to express my "spirituality", I guess, such as it was.
I'm very happy to say that I don't do $h!t like that anymore. LOL
