I don't have an answer to that question. I enjoy my life constantly.
But at some moments, I realise just how lucky I am, like when i'm sitting in my chair in front of the open window, having a smoke and just relax. I love moments like that.

Real enjoyment comes from trying to maintain a positive outlook on life. Once we view everything negatively, we hurt ourselves and everyone around us.
My family. I thank God every night for Big Tex and our two children. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The excitement of traveling and seeing new things. Chocolate chip cookie dough (homemade). A really good bottle of wine. A fire in the fireplace on a Saturday night with Big Tex next to me. A few things that I'm NOT going to publicize.

Having a fine cigar on Sunday mornings, taking a walk in the woods behind our apartment.....spending a night watching a
movie like The Quiet Man with my wife......Scotland trips.......Smoking a pipe while reading Yeats and Rilke......Having a beer
with an old friend.......writing poetry......helping people in their lives (I'm a better foul weather friend than a fair weather)........surprising
my wife with gifts.......telling people about my struggles, and how I overcame then........meeting new people, and making real friends.....
Seeing my kids enjoy life without the bad influences of stupid friends, drugs, etc. School, dance, music, etc., they're involved. All three kids have managed to develop good friends and wholesome activities.
Seeing my wife enjoy the things she likes. Refinishing furniture, remodeling the house, seeing a movie, going out to dinner, vacations, not having to work outside of the home full time.

I enjoy coaching, scuba diving, cycling and friends. I enjoy pleasing myself after a lifetime to trying to please others. With age has come some selfishness.
Sounds like balance to me, not selfishness - coaching = helping other; friends = give-and-take, not selfish.
As for me, I enjoy my cats, my house, college classes, my job, gardening (if it ever warms up in this country), a good red wine with baguette, pt and several types of cheese, dining out in nice restaurants, going to the opera, travelling to places like Vienna and Prague, attending plays at the local theatre, reading, good coffee (my blend of Columbian, Moka Java and Arabica beans), redecorating the house, friends.
Watching our 2 yougest children grow up living " normal " lives compared to myself growing up a jwfreak. Both kids are involved in after school sports, ie track team, wrestling team, etc. Daughter has been in Navy League for 2 years now.
And as a family....we love camping. We traded up to a new camper this year, and we spend practically every weekend in the summer from early May to mid October, travelling to campsites. We do a lot of biking and hiking together, and we love it.
These are all things that if we had stayed in the org, we would be doing little or none of.
This is what makes me enjoy my life.
Thanks Minimus
