Even though my husband and I knew what he was df'd for, most of the congregation did not, including the other pioneers.
Still, we had to keep his reputation in tact...I just put my foot down and said never again would my daughter go in service without us and came out looking like an idiot
Why? You and your husband were also ministers, legally, & I don't know what state you come from, but in mandatory reporting states, ALL ministers are culpable, not just ministers. Not trying to be hard on you, I know you have a different view point on it now, but what made you any different than the elders back then?
Well, you knew, did you ever report it? I'm just trying to point out that this is not just an "elder" problem. Sure, we were dupes, & trusted in "jehovah" & the "elders" to do the right thing, but using that as an excuse really smacks of "I was just following" orders to me. Truthseeekers, if this post does not apply to you, please dont take it wrong, I'm just using it to make anexasmple of a pervasive attitude within the jw's.How on earth could the brothers allow this to happen???

Ah, yes.....New Light! has shone forth on their molestation policy, they are now in compliance with CPS....remember when they said they would never allow disgruntled apostates to dictate policy to them .....well, keep on keeping on you disgruntled apostates, gravity is present. LDH..so true, for them, its still about their image and not the victims welfare. May that organization be relegated to the trash heap it justly deserves.

Wow! The elders actually contacted Child Protective Services??!!! This guy was actually removed as an elder instead of being promoted??
They didn't do this for the child, but for the Watchtower reputation most probably.

Avishai.....you mentioned something about the JW mindset. I think it's important to note that ;as JW's we were ;conditioned, ;right or wrong, to put ;implicit trust in the elders, not the pioneers. ;It takes time and experience to understand that ;such trust was ;misplaced. As an organization, the hand writing is on the wall. As for individual members, someone greater than me will decide who acted when they ;should have and who didn't.

"....They didn't do this for the child, but for the Watchtower reputation most probably...."
You're right, but at least it's a tiny, small step in the right direction. With all the horrific, negative publicity this is getting, you can bet your ass that "Mother Borg" will be changing their policies regarding pedophiles. We know full well that this will all be done in secret: no announcements, no letters read at the Ministry School, but behind closed doors. We can't let anyone think that "apostates" and the "Satan controlled media" had any influence on the happiest people on earth now can we?

Was california one of the REPORTING states to begin with ? IN that event, they didnt do anything extrordinary here. I didnt see anywhere where the guy was disfellowshipped and he ADMITTED touching this girl inappropriately. WHAT NO SECOND WITNESS TO THIS SLIMEBALL???

It is good to see the elders complying with the law regarding reporting of abuse.
One beneficial consequence of this will be that the true magnitude of the problem will become a matter of public record.
Another benefit will be that, with prosecution by the state, the perps will be removed from the congregations where they previously enjoyed no consequences for their bad behavior. JW children will be safer.
Now, about your murderous blood policy, Jaracz...
