  I just spoke with the reporter who handled this story. She had no idea that this was a church scandal--she will be visiting this site and Bill Bowen's site.

  I encouraged her to register and ask her own questions.

  It was a wonderful conversation, and you can be SURE some of the crucial info on this website (and others) will be included in her follow-up story after this jackass goes back to court this coming week.

  Also, I asked her to pass along out deepest sympathies to the little girl in question. Maybe you all want to send her a hug?

  I sent the reporter an email with a link to the story that was done in Dallas, and also about silentlambs.

  I asked the reporter (if it is possible) to tell the little girl she is very brave and we are all proud of her for standing up for herself and telling someone about what happend to her.

  I will let you know if I get a responce.

  Thank you for sharing this story, it is nice to see they are FINALLY doing something right. I am so glad this little girl wasn't re-victimized by the elders like soooooooooooooooo many have been.

  I notice the guy is not an elder any more but he appears to still be a Jehovah's Witness in good standing.

  So no doubt ... just like the Erica, Berry and Boer trials over the last two or so years .... the friggen entire congregation will show up at the court house and offer their complete support for the pervert.

  There is much more work to be done. As it is just NOT the job of elders to report abuse but ALL baptized JWs since they are all considered "ordained ministers" and meet the definition of "clergy" in all statutes in Canada and the 16 USA states where reporting laws exist. Few including law enforcement seem to have figured that out. Of course "shadow man" knows and so does "hawk".

  Also ALL JW PARENTS MUST report abuse too in ALL 50 states.

  If the friggin WTS wants to play "mother organization" then it better step up to the plate and train ALL of its people (not just elders) to report the abuse properly - no more of this reporting to the friggen "untrained" elders crap.

  I didn't mean to imply that they are doing everything they are supposed to. This is one of the first stories I have seen where they did in fact remove the abuser from their position, and go to Child Protective agencies.

  Yes, I agree there is sooooooooooooo much more to be done, but I am just glad that this particular little girl didn't have to go through what so many others have with the elders.

  Of course, it wasn't stated in the article so there is no real way to tell unless the family makes mention of it.

  I just hope they are trying a little harder to be more fair to victims, and eventually have to do what they should have been doing all these yrs and let people who are trained handle these cases.

  The girl told detectives that the last incident happened in January 2002

  After the last incident, the girl told her mother, and the family attempted to keep Anguiano from coming to the home. The girl and her family spoke to the congregation's elders about the alleged incidents and filed a complaint against Anguiano

  Some of the elders contacted Child Protective Services in March 2002, according to court documents. Elders conducted their own investigation

  Why is it that I think the elder's investigation took place before reporting to the CPS. We have a elder non-reporting period here of at least 1 month, assuming that the elders were informed relatively soon after the last incident.

  In your story about LOUIS ANGUAINO Re: Pedophile Allegations. I would like to draw your readers to two points. He told the police "he didn't know if it was the right thing to do", when asked about improperly touching a 10 year old on her behind. Is this the kind of man you want knocking on your door some saturday morning when the kids are watching cartoons and you are sleeping in? Are these the words of a righteous man? It was also stated the elders of his congregation reported the incident to CPS. This is a first for Jehovah's Witnesses, and in direct response to the growing number of sexual abuse victims coming forth in their congregations all over the world. In the past few months, Shows like Dateline in the USA, Fifth Estate in Canada, Panorama in the UK, and C9 in Australia have all aired shows about coverups by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of this same nature. . By the way, they are not obliged to tell the members of the congregation that they have a pedophile in their midst nor do they have to stop the molester from prosyletizing door to door. I hope your readers think twice before answering when next they visit. Protect your children!
