Good points by all:
Just a comment regarding the "rules." Don't write them down in ink. Use a pencil.

Wasn't it stated that autologous whole blood was accepted by JWs on the blood cards that were published and then taken back before they were distributed to JWs because of the date on them a year ago or so?

Awesome question. I remember reading on Rado Vleugel's site, Lee Elder has the reprints of the new card that were all but released, then withdrawn for some (unknown) reason...my guess is that it hit 2/3 majority and then a GB power-tripping member changed his vote reducing the majority below two-thirds, thereby nullifying the previous policy change vote. I can surmise this because of the information provided in Ray Franz's publications. The beaurocracy in the GB is ridiculous.

The blood cards that were pulled from distribution contained language that I thought said that. However, it was ambiguous enough that neither I nor anyone else I'm in contact with knew for sure. My take is that the Society had decided to allow it, but that someone with a great deal of pull convinced them to delay introduction of the allowance. Whether this is true or not, I doubt I'll ever know. It remains to be seen whether autologous blood will ever be allowed. I do know that a number of solid JWs strongly disagree with the Society's present policy because they realize that it's arbitrary and illogical.
