This is a crime commited by both Russia government and the Governing Body and the victims are the Russian Witnesses.
I don't think any JW who are still "asleep" should be charged with the faults of the ORG. unfortunaly they will suffer and the Org will make videos of them to use to prove this is the"one true religion".

@eyeuse2badub, "criticizing, predicting, and even looking forward to the destruction of a government" are not crimes, taking into account that JWs don't commit, incite for or justify any anti-governmental activities.
Not saying jw's commit, incite, but they DO try to justify anti-government activities and they DO rejoice as "worldly" governments struggle to govern. It's what they are taught to do by the wtbts!

The points of contention between the JW faith and the Russian government have been known for years. One of them is the absurd teaching on blood, or more precisely, enforcement of the doctrine via congregational sanctions for noncompliance.
When Bulgaria refused to re register the JW faith as a recognized religion, JW representatives went before the ECHR and lied their faces off, stating that JW's had complete autonomy on this question with no sanctions whatsoever.
Some of us at the time pointed out that this put them on a collision course with the Russian Government.
I'm on the fence about this.
On the one hand, all of the Russian court's reasons for the ban are arguably justified, particularly with what we know about the WTS.
On the other hand, though (also because of what we know about the WTS), this won't really help in the long run. It's too much of a stopgap measure in dealing with them.
Plus, it rubs me the wrong way when governments use heavy-handed tactics.
Simply stripping them of tax exemption is still, IMO, the best way of dealing with them...
...for now.
At least, if any JWs start touting this as the Beginning of the End, you can counter with...

As much as I have issues with JWs for how their policies have affected the relationships I have with my family, I would never rejoice over any government banning a religion.

JW can have bibles in Russia. Just not their bibles.

JW could meet in Russia, just as Christians did in 1st century. They just can't have THEIR kind of meeting.
Since the bible doesn't authorize, much less direct the use of JW specific bible, literature or meetings, the JWs are ignoring Romans 13 and relieving the sword in response.
The ORG (as well as all the members who go along with it) is causing the problems there.
I don't blame Russia
Imagine if JWs (along with a host of other cults) all came to USA from Russia and started taking over peoples' lives and families and causing all this damage. It would look alot like a stealth attack on the citizenry, which the government would be forced to respond to and protect the people. Even if that means making things hard on the members themselves who are unwitting pawns in the attack.
I don’t support any government removing the religious rights of someone under the guise of there being a threat to the national security of the country. That’s BS
