hello Yerusalyim
thank for letting me know about the answer, and I assume you are a catholic in the service.
the picture of me in my uniform was taken in 1975 when i was in the army, but I`ve been out for years.
I am an tv evangelist here in Germany reaching thousands which the good news of Christ , and alot of catholic are getting converted to the good new gospel of Christ, and getting born again.
alot have ask me why we don`t take the Lord supper like the catholic , and I had to teach them what the bibles says, but my question is really how can they come up with the Eucharist and take the bible so much out of context.
IN this verse 1Co:11:24: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
1Co:11:25: After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
1Co:11:26: For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
notice the scripture say remember, not literally.
I know when I take the Lord supper i take it as A memorial of what jesus did for us, and gave His Body and Blood for us.
I see this more as spiritual according to Rom4:17 as though I can see into the past 2000 years ago and see the truth what Jesus did on the cross so I can be healed and saved by the blood alone.
Did Jesus say it is FINISHED on the cross???
I know our salvation was won by Jesus death alone and no works or ceromony , and sacrifice is needed because Jesus was the sacrafice for all humans.
God bless
Yerusalyim...The Passover likewise mirrors ancient cultic practices. Blood spilling and animal/human sacrifice have stained human history from very primitive days. The detaials of wine and bread as symbols of blood and flesh of a human savior slaim, do not come from the Passover celebration.
I know you feel this indebtedness is improbable but this is recognized by most Catholic theologians. I myself spend 3 hours discussing these points with a priest of a large church after I was surprised by a remark he made in his sermon to this effect. He knew (learned through Catholic periodicals)and preached that Bible stories were mythological tales with a moral. He felt the moral was inspired not the story. Likewise the Christ story is manifestly filled with mythology largely absorbed from pagan cults. Yet he had resolved that this in no way diminished the message of love and self sacrifice. We left on good terms agreeing to disagree about the value of perpetuating pious lies for the betterment of men.
evangelist...I don't often condemn the choices of others. But you are the scum of the earth. Anyone who would abuse the weaknesses of others and extort by emotional manipulation for monetary gain should be locked in prison. Don't tell us you are different, if you were you would not be a televangelist, you might chose someother foru to dispense your poison so as not to be associated with the con-men who charactorize your kind. Few things are more evil.

I thought it said to 'do it' - in memory of me.
I think the question you should be asking is - was the bread and wine at the last supper the body and blood of Jesus?

You can't consecrate the Eucharist. silly
Pete,
Indeed, I use that line on JW friends who try to criticize the Catholic Church for having taken on "Pagan" elements of worship. I inform them that the Feast of Unleaven Bread, and the Redemption of the First Born were indeed pagan cultic worship before the Jews made them special for Yahweh.
Evangelist,
Where at in Germany? I was there for 4 years.
Our opinion as Catholics would be that it's you who are taking scripture out of context, but we're not here to discuss Catholic or Protestant doctrine, except in how it relates to Jehovah Witnessism.
